Little Miss Red Riding Wolffe: Book The Third -Part One
Today is September 2nd, 2013. As this "chapter" is very long - some 400 pages - I have loaded the first third or so here. Blogger limits page count to 400 of its page numbering system, so the whole "chapter" is not allowed.
Also, the first draft I loaded needs some polish! I am making those edits over time. When the editing is finished, I will remove this explanation!:-))
The story is OK to read as is. The editing hopefully will just make it a bit easier to understand my odd way of saying things!:-))
To make reading this easier, may I suggest that you copy and paste it to a text processor on your computer? One that displays images is best, as sometime I will have illustrations for parts of the story.
Captain, Y.H.V.H.; First Mate Noah, AND
The Ark Mutiny
We hear the story from two of our friends in Miss Red Riding Wolffe's childhood, and a surprise visitor, whom they had never met before, who knows the exact, same record! But, that's quite a few pages from here, if you know what I mean, Victor!
The first to start this amazing story is our Equus friend, Mr. Neigh! (Yes, 'Equus' means . . . oh! you go look it up!
But, to start, Grandpa had just started to introduce Mr. Ostrich, at the end of the last book. Let's let him finish! Hold on a little, Mr. Neigh!
"Aye(Yes!), 'een I baz ter ye (even as I bow to you), yawz tournez yern baeck-syade taw mae(ya'alls turns your own back-side toward me), aiynes bloody - eil 'auzes mae taw fayr maen lyife dunn fawnysh'd wah!([approximate meaning] and it bloody well causes me to fear my own life is done finished with)! Cous - 'ng yo's twyo hyn'd hoyves loyk gnarly 'oofn due soode(Because your two hind hooves look so rough and filled with dirt), ayn a' flie'ng oop intae mae fayce(And they're about to be flying into my face)!"
With that spoken, the gentlemanly-dressed Mr. Ostriche stood to his full height, which you know if you've ever seen an ostrich, looks quite silly! With long, skinny legs that bend backwards at the knee, and a heavy, fat body, with barely enough feathers to cover it, and the strangest, longest and most snake-like neck you can hope to ever see! If that weren't strange enough, his head made all the rest of him look 'normal'!
Two huge eyes, like separately-blinking street stop lights on tow intersections, just ten feet apart, each eye seemed to look at you from a different head. Fuzzy pin feathers covering the professor's head looked like a cheap fur coat with one longer feather sticking out of the very middle of the top. The dirty gray color of the 400 pound oris' (See your dictionary) head was even less attractive than the dirty pale gray pin feathers covering his throat! And, we're not done!
When the old ostrich spoke, his beak, a dark, dirty black color, made funny creaks, as he opened and closed it. His tongue, a pale pink-colored, sharp-pointed wood-sliver-looking part, seemed almost ready to fall out! That's not all . . .
For many generations, Mr. Ostrich's ancestors had lived in Ostrichlia(Australia is the modern name given their island kingdom by humans who settled there later.), but they only spoke Ostri, the native tongue of their race. When humans overran their country, they had to learn to speak the humans' language, just to make sure all of them wouldn't be sent to ostrich feather pluckers!
Anyway, trying to speak the humans' Australian language caused Mr. Ostrich's whole face and head to bobble around, grimace and to look even more absurd! (But, we're polite to others, so we won't giggle and point . . . right? (Smile!)
Mr. Ostrich is still speaking . . . . " . . . theane(and then), eynstaed ohh keek'n mae 'eahd baek oop thure(And then, instead of kickin' me head back up there[indicating the top of the ravine he'd just slid down]), ale's yeen bloeddy doyes ees staynde thure ayne loik ayroynd ay 'it mae wythe yoer sally gryne(all you-un does is stand there and look around at me with your sorry grin)!"
Ayin gniew aile' eyntradooce maesealf(Anyway I'll introduce myself). Eiye'm "Graynde Prea pheasore(I'm Grand Pre phaser), Docteer uff Unndeer Cees Rays' ertch(Doctor of Under Seas Research), Maeysteer Fyyne-Pheetha(Master Fyyne Pheetha)! Eyem mazzed plaez'd tae mayit ye(I am surprised and pleased to meet you), ye bloodie ale Equus(You bloody old horse)!"
Old Mr. Neigh! just stood there, ears drooping, still with his back to Professor Fyyne Pheetha, and dumbfounded. Just then Grandpa Otter said, "Did you say you're Professor Fyyne Pheetha, of Australia"
"Walle, blaw mea fawthas ooff!," exclaimed Mr. Fyyne Pheetha. "Yuh knaws 'boot mae wayth(You know about my work)?"
"Some Orca families that vacation down by Australia, told me that they met a Great Whale Pod Chief off Australia & Antartica who talked about a famous Great Gray Whale doctor who lives in Australia, and is an Ostrich! You 'do' research Great Gray Whales?"
"Kgnaw(roughly; Naw)! Eetz mae tarne tae lacke staypid(It is my turn to look stupid)! Ayie bloedie nea're draye'md ayied baye gknoen 'aye oope 'eaire(I bloody never dreamed i'd be known anywhere up here)!"
"Well! Ya ol' blabber face, you sure are!" Mr. Neigh!'s voice surprised everyone. "Who let 'you' escape from your pen?"
It seemed that Mr. Neigh! was determined to finish what his ancestors in the Ark of Safe Passage, who had been stopped by First Mate Noah, weren't allowed to do! But, Mr. Fyyne Pheetha didn't seem to notice.
"Mr. Neigh! ! Little Riding Wolffe's sharp voice cut right into Mr. Neigh!'s next sentence, which started . . . "Your bowing to me is just a trick to catch me off . . ." But, his former passenger's sharp poke in his ribs and even sharper voice were like a razor cutting warm butter. He hung his head again!
"Excuse me," Joshua Otter's voice was a bit squeaky and timid. "But grandpa said the Orca Chief told how Dr. Fyyne Pheetha's research had saved many Great Gray Whale babies, and gave all Grays a better living. I'm really proud to meet you, Mr., I mean Doctor Fyyne Pheetha!"
"Yes! I am also proud to meet you, Mr. Fyyne Pheetha!," added Grandpa Otter. "You're the first Ostrich doctor I've ever met!"
"Ayend eiyme meetie 'appie phoe mayt'n yawe(And I'm mighty happy for meeting ya'all)! Bloedie maey plahchure, mae maitees(Bloody my pleasure, me matees)!"
Mr. Neigh! looked even more miserable. Finally, he looked at Dr. Fyyne Pheetha and lowered his eyes. "Mr. Fyyne Pheetha, I'm really embarrassed for my actions! I thought 'all' ostriches were like my grandfather told me they are. I didn't trust you, but I see I was wrong. Please, I am sorry.
Mr. Neigh!'s eyes focused up at Mr. Fyyne Pheetha, who's head was proudly perched on it looonnnggg neck, far above Mr. Neigh!'s lowered head and ears.
Mawlie('Mawlie(An ancient ostrich endearment for one's horse friend - no English interpretation!), aitz bloedy mae plah chure tae fawgeeve yae(aw, it's bloody my pleasure to forgive you), , he said to Mr. Neigh!, lowering his long neck, and speaking with a soft, gentle voice. "Maa eiye rayqweest yaw 'tae tale mae jees wheayte yaw greindawd bloedie toale yaw awboot Oerstraychlia, mae 'ohyme laynde(May, I request ya'all to tell me just what yer grandad bloody told ya'all about Ostrich(formal name of Ostrich Family))? Mae greindawdie awtoule mae awboot a Nuwhah's Aerack awtakh aiyn Oerstraychlias B'yea weyald ahrese boot aiyes neeva kgewn wheyt rawley deed 'ahpeen(My grandaddy a'(all) ready told me about a' Noach's Ark attack our own Ostriches by your own wild horses but I haves yet never known what really did happen)! Wayed yae meende tawlin mae yoe gramperz stawry(Would you mind tellin' me your grandpa's story)?"
"You mean your grandpa had a story about horses and ostriches on Noah's Ark, too?" Mr. Neigh!'s face had the funniest look that Miss Red Riding Wolffe had ever seen! Both eyes were huge, his jaw kept falling down, and the sound it made when he tried to close it while talking was like car tires going over cracks in the road; "Whack! Whack! Whack! Whack! Skip-crick!"
Sure! I guess you'd like to know what grandpa told me, and all us grandkids about you, I mean about all - er, I mean, what he said his grandpa told him about Ostriches."
"Excuse me," Grandpa Otter said, "Will this take long? We were planning to get home to Puyallup by sundown. Perhaps we should be going if this will take awhile. Since the earthquake has changed the stream so much, it will take longer to find our way. Mr. Neigh!, you might get to the seashore by just following the stream."
"Well, I'm really not sure there is enough time for Miss Riding Wolffe and I to go on to the beach, either," Mr. Neigh! said. Since I am rather lost here, may I ask you to lead us back to where I can remember where we came from? We were to meet a blue jay who is helping us find our way around these parts at the beach, but if I can return to where we last saw him, I believe he will find us there.
"Why, you are most welcome to join us," Grandpa Otter replied. I would truly enjoy hearing this fascinating story, and my grandchildren may also want to hear it."
"I would!," young Joshua Otter spoke with a happy voice. "Grandpa has told us many stories about the Flood and other ancient history things. I like most of them!"
"Professor Fyyne Pheetha, you are welcome to accompany us," Mr. Neigh! turned to the ostrich. "Perhaps we can compare our separate versions of this story?"
"Oiee(Oy mee)!" exclaimed Mr. Fyyne Pheetha. "aiydaydent thteenque awboot whayette yaw bloedie wawre wawl dawin' awloon aire(I didn't think about what you bloody were all doin' along here)! 'Ayes jawst 'aid'd awt thave beach, maesawlf(I was just headed over to have that beach, myself)! Wea bloedie wawhl cawd jawst strowlh awloong awnd tawlk(We bloody well could just strole along and talk). Mawnd(Mind)?"
"Sure!," Mr. Neigh! whinnied his approval, and said, "Little Miss Red Riding Wolffe, do you want to ride, or walk?"
"Oh! May I walk next to Mr. Fyyne Pheetha? She asked. "I'd really like to hear you tell him your grandpa's story. And I like Mr. Fyyne Pheetha,," she said, smiling up at the elderly ostrich. "Is that OK?"
Dear, you may walk beside Professor Fyyne Pheetha, if he approves."
"Shaw! Yaw'll bae ah fawn leet'l wawkin pawtnaw(Sure! Ya'all' be a fine walkin' partner)!" Mr. Fyyne Pheetha smiled at Miss Riding Wolffe again. "Hawre(Here). Hauld awn taw mae wawhn(Hold on to me wing)."
"Then, we need to be on our way," Grandpa Otter said.
They all started out, a very odd-looking group of hikers - Otter Family, the old ostrich, the ancient horse, Mr. Neigh!, Miss Riding Wolffe, a playful wolf-pup, and no one had noticed yet, Mr. Blue Jay, who flew above them. Mr. Neigh started his story right away.
"My grandpa Neigh! said this story starts when Ish (Adam) and his beautiful Ishah (Eve) were still in Eden. At the end of their relationship when Creator shared long walks with them in the cool evenings, Ishah's constant companion was a very outspoken, old ostrich. The ostrich went with her all over the very large garden, giving her rides back home from many places when she felt too tired to walk.
For Ish, another creature was his faithful companion. The two of them spent many long days doing the commission Ish was given to do by Creator, making Great Garden a wonderful place for all creatures to live in.
But, Adam had neglected to care as much for his Ishah. His long days apart from her left him little energy when he rode his horse, yes his companion was a horse, back home, and he fell to sleep right after she fed him. The horse was not only a means for Adam to get home from far out into the garden, but it supplied strong assistance for Adam, carrying and helping to move things.
Ishah's longing for her Ish's attention led her to find another creature for companionship. The ostrich was essentially a lazy, compulsive creature, and it had a quite soft feel to its feathery plumage, which Eve enjoyed touching. It helped her focus her loneliness for Ish away from his soft, warm hands, which she simply adored, whenever he gave her time to enjoy his loving.
Her companion was also large enough to carry her whenever she felt tired. She grew to love the big bird and spent hours in its company.
For its part, the first horse was a beautiful black stallion, with a perfect white star on its forehead. White hocks above its deep black hooves gave its appearance a regal look that stood out among its animal cousins with more subdued marking.
You would not quite think of animals having problems with jealousy, but when Ish asked Ishah to join him for rides on the Black Stallion, the old ostrich missed her, and began to feel he needed to find a way to keep her with him. He began asking other creatures for advice.
Most animals liked the two humans Creator placed in charge of their wonderful home, so Ostrich had to carefully form how he asked for this advice, and who he approached so as to not give away his real intentions. He feared that if they ever found out his intentions, he would lose his status and respect which, as a large, fairly intelligent bird, he most desired to keep.
To maintain his hidden agenda, he would first ask, "Can you tell me what Ishah likes to do the most?" If the creature answered something like, "Well, I don't really pay attention to what Ishah likes," he would move to the next one. A key question he used to determine if a prospective creature could help him was to ask, "Have you heard if Ish likes me to accompany him and Ishah, when he takes Ishah and the Black Stallion for walks?" If the prospect knew the answer, of course it was much too close to Ish to be trusted!
Then one night Mr. Ostrich saw a dark green diamond-patterned, sleek, smooth-scaled creature leading several other kinds of creatures, all shiny, smooth-scaled, whispering to each other about something. He thought, "If so quiet about what their doing, they're hiding something! It was the first time he had ever encountered any other creature practicing what he had been, in secret, for some time! Maybe these are the kind of creature I need to help me keep Ishah away from 'that' horse!"
"Hey! Wait a minute!" It was Mr. Fyyne Pheetha, and he was speaking in his companions' language with perfect clarity! "Aye awm shawr yawr(I am sure your) . . ." But he was cut off by Mr. Neigh!, Miss Riding Wolffe, and Mr. Blue Jay, all at the same instant - "What??!!" they all yelled "did you say?!!"
Uh, er, awe mawn, awe dawn't sawpoose(I mean, I don't suppose) . . ." But he got no further.
"Now, just a minute," said Mr. Neigh! "I heard you plainly speak in our language! Now, I'm sure I should have kicked that silly smile right off your face! You have some explaining to do, Mr. Fyyne Pheetha; NOW!" He practically shouted at the plainly frightened old ostrich, who had lost all his self assurance.
Suddenly, one could almost hear the silence! We wait for to speak, Mr. Fyyne Pheetha!" Mr. Neigh!'s deep voice made the old ostrich even more uncomfortable.
Silence.
By now the odd-looking little group had stopped, even the Otter Family couldn't continue without hearing Mr. Ostriche's answer to his obvious blunder. They were standing together to one side.
Mr. Fyyne Pheetha's head was far from being held high and proud at the top of his long, straightened neck, which was drooping lower and lower. He subversively glanced about his suddenly unwanted audience. How was he to get out of this?
"Well, I mean, well . . . I'm sorry, "Mr. Fyyne Pheetha's voice was very soft, almost inaudible. I was afraid of you not accepting me when I first saw you come down that path. And, the sudden earthquake that loosened you, Mr. Neigh!, also frightened me! Really, I'm lost, and I was thinking that if I spoke like you, you would not believe me! I'm sorry," he repeated.
But, the look in Mr. Neigh's angry eyes said he wasn't about to believe one word of Mr. Fyyne Pheetha!
"What's wrong with just speaking the facts, in the same manner of speaking that you normally use?," Mr. Neigh!'s voice was almost a shrill whiny, this time. "It works very well for me! And, Mr. Fyyne Pheetha, or whoever you really are, why did you pretend we did not hear you when you first slipped up on your phony foreign accent? Something just does not add up about you, my ancient enemy!"
"Well, spoke Mr. Fyyne Pheetha, not pretending a phony accent, now, "I'll just leave you now, since we're not going to get along, and I really need to find out where I am, and how to make it back to my home. I'll just be going."
Before he could turn to leave, little Miss Riding Wolffe stepped behind him, and in her most bossy little voice, said; "Now just you hold it right there! Mr. Neigh! is right! Just 'who' are you?" The look on her face, and her little, sharp teeth didn't really scare the 400 pound ostrich, but he knew the sharp hind hooves of the 2,000 pound Mr. Neigh! were much, much too close to make a run!
"OK," he said, his head and neck almost down to his large, almost feather-covered body, I'll tell you the truth. But, I warn you, it may be hard to believe!"
"Well, why don't you just tell us!" Mr. Neigh! spoke in a stern voice. "Let us at least hear it for ourselves."
The ostrich was quiet. "Yes, finally spoke, I should have known it was OK to just tell you why I'm here. I expect creatures I meet to be honest to me."
"I'm really from far to the South, where I lived after I sailed for many years after I left Australia. My uncle is the Great Gray Whale doctor. Before I left home, I helped in his laboratory many years. I thought no one would have heard of him this far from home, so I used his name because I thought I'd be respected more. I 'was,' until now.
"Well!," almost growled Mr. Neigh!," he was so angry at the ostrich's lies, "at least this story makes more sense! What is your 'real' name? You say your uncle is the 'real' Dr. Dr. Fyyne Pheetha. How is an ostrich involved in undersea research, and even more odd, helping whales?"
Ah . . . er, . . ." Mr. Fyyne Pheetha was obviously stalling. Didn't the Orca Chief tell you recently, about my Australian uncle Ostrich who is a Great Gray Whale doctor, Grandpa Otter?" Mr. Fyyne Pheetha looked at Grandpa Otter with imploring eyes, as if saying, "Help get me out of this mess!" But, the old otter had been thinking about his own need to get out of this mess, and Mr. Fyyne Pheetha's surprise question only made him more anxious!
"Well, I, er . . ." and now everyone's attention was like holes being bored into his skull, "Oh! Why, yes! They talked about ostriches," Grandpa Otter said, his voice cracking just a bit. He was not happy that he had stayed, now. "I think they said the doctor was an ostrich," he said.
"You're not sure!," Mr. Neigh! was not pleased at all now, how this entire situation was going. "Why did you tell us the doctor was an ostrich?" His look at Grandpa Otter made the elder Otter want to run away post haste!
"Well, you see . . ., We were just floating by a pod of Orca, and I heard them talking about a doctor in Australia who had studied Great Gray Whales, and helped many heal from disease. She was talking to a sick Orca, an old chief, I gathered from her calling him "Great Father. He asked her if Australia wasn't where ostriches lived. When she said "Yes," she said she believed the doctor was one."
"What?! You didn't speak to the whales in that Orca pod?! You said . . ." But Grandpa Otter interrupted, "Yes!, er, I mean, No! I did not say a word to those whales - they 'EAT' otters! We were very quiet as we drifted by that Killer Whale Pod! I only heard them talking," said a blushing Grandpa Otter! (Now, how can you tell when an otter blushes?)
Now Mr. Neigh! was 'really' not happy!
"So, our Mr. Fyyne Pheetha. Now I hear that you are very likely 'not' telling us the truth about having an uncle who is, or was, a whale doctor! I think you need very much to meet our owl police! How would you like that?"
Mr. Fyyne Pheetha was scared witless. His voice trembling, he said, "No, ah, I mean, please. I'll tell you the truth. Please, let me explain.
"Right!" Mr. Neigh! was not patient anymore. "How do you think we are going to believe anymore of your lying, Mr. - uh - I don't even trust you to tell us your name!"
"Please. Just let me go. I won't bother you any more!" The old ostrich was very sad looking.
"Not so fast, there!" Mr. Neigh! said, his eyes burning deep holes right into the ostrich's mind. "I think that I'm seeing more than you might want to believe. Grandpa Otter, I need you to stay here, so you can give your side to the Owl Police. How about all of us sitting down here in this open place until Mr. Blue Jay gets back with our friends. Mr. Blue Jay?"
"I'm gone!" said the faithful little messenger.
It had been fairly early in the day when Red Riding Wolffe and Mr. Neigh! had started their walk to the beach. Now, it was soon noon time. The little group was sitting in a grassy meadow. From far away the faint roar of ocean waves pounding the beach could be heard. Red Riding Wolffe was feeling disappointed at not being able to get to walk and play on the beach, especially since it was so close!
Grandpa Otter looked around, like he was going to sneak off! Mr. Neigh! had noticed Mr. Fyyne Pheetha, or whoever the wily old ostrich actually was, was doing the same thing. But, being a wise old stallion, he knew how to guard his captives quite well. At each time one would avert his eyes, he would stamp his hind hooves, and they would immediately sink into the skulking attitude each had begun to display when their lying was affirmed.
"Hi all! Huff - huff - hufffff." Puffed the elderly old Mr. Owl, who was local Constable, and son of the area's judge, Father Owl. His duties also involved being the Chief Investigator with the Owl Police. "What have we here?" He had flown out immediately when Mr. Blue Jay told him about the problem. About an hour had passed since the deep blue-feathered messenger had left them.
To himself, the old ostrich laughed. "so this is their police? Let this sleepy old owl just try to force me to go anywhere!" But, to the owl, he said, "I'm pleased to meet you. I think we can set this old horse and his little wolf friend straight, if you'll just help me to prove where I'm from."
But, he spoke the worst thing he could have thought of, to the wise old owl!
"No, I'm sorry, but this Mr. Neigh! is a former captain of our police department. If you think that he doesn't have a clue, then you, old ostrich, are in for a great surprise! You'd better speak very carefully, and make certain everything that you say is exactly the same as all else you say! Mr. Neigh! was the best detective we had. He taught all the current officers!"
Grandpa Otter wasn't blushing anymore! Under his fur, his face was white! He hoped the ostrich wouldn't say 'too' much! It could get him into BIG TROUBLE!
And, at that exact moment, just as Grandpa Otter was worried sick about being found out for smuggling pearls to Mr. Fyyne Pheetha, 'IT' happened! A huge crack opened right under the otters and Mr. Fyyne Pheetha, and they fell down into its depth! Then, it slammed shut with tremendous thunder! Mr. Neigh! had just walked away from the spot, toward where Miss Red Riding Wolffe was sitting beside the ancient, rotting tree stump Mr. Owl was perched on. Mr. Blue Jay was just flying back from his stopping at the Wolffe's home to tell her folks what was happening.
As things settled and quieted, the stunned little group began thinking and speaking again.
Mr. Owl had just started to say, "Now, let's hear what Grandpa Otter has to say about the Orca's talking about the famous Gray Whale doctor," but the sudden earthquake's roar made his voice sound like a faint squeak. Anyway, he jumped in the air from the stump when it shook violently from the quake. Miss Riding Wolffe also had reacted to the shaking with a sudden jump straight up into the air!
She wished she could fly, like Chief Owl and Mr. Blue Jay!
Mr. Neigh!'s reaction had been to jump and run toward the meadow, away from the noise and shaking, and his shrill whinny gave the whole event a spooky sensation to everyone. He only took a few steps before his mind had refocused on its guarding task, and as he turned back, he saw the two apparent accomplices disappear into the earth. Seeing that, his legs trembled with more fright than he'd felt from the sudden quaking! His recent mishap of the night before, with the still unknown event that caused his mad bolting just before reaching the Wolffe's little house, was very unusual for his veteran experiences with the police department.
No one had spoken for several moments. After the loud thunder of the earth ripping open, then slamming shut, the silence almost spoke. The feeling was not unlike turning a light off after leaving a room where folk had gathered, then now, had left. So empty you could sense it.
Looking around at each other, slowly their thoughts had regained focus. Too many questions; too much alarm. About an hour later, after quiet talk to reassure each survivor, Mr. Neigh! rose from where he had laid down to regain his strength, his eyes still faintly mirroring the fright he'd experienced. His legs still felt rubbery.
"Miss Riding Wolffe," he tried to speak gently, but his voice sounded squeaky, "Are you alright?"
"Oh!" cried the little wolf. "Why did the nice otter kids have to be standing there?" Then she remembered to ask her Friend, Creator. In her heart she heard the answer. It scared her, so she didn't say anything to Mr. Neigh! But the look she saw in his eyes told her that he knew Creator's answer, too. He looked terribly sad. She saw that she couldn't trust some very friendly people she met, but actually did not know anything about them.
She uncurled herself from the tight little fur ball she had rolled herself into, giving a little whimper.
"I think that you should try to get onto Mr. Neigh!'s back, and we all head for home." Mr. Owl's hooting old voice sounded OK, but its sound made Miss Riding Wolffe feel more spooky!
"If you want us to," he continued, "Mr. Blue Jay and I shall be happy to fly slowly, to stay with you. Would that help?" He had landed on the grass beside the small wolf pup after his reaction to the quake, and his wide, soft wings had covered her shaking little form, rolled up in a tight ball.
"Perhaps we can find a thick blanket of moss to cover you, our dear little friend." "Mr. Neigh!, can you help?"
"By now, Mr. Neigh! was pretty much back to himself. "I sure can!" he said with all the cheer he could muster. "I'll go find some. Be right back."
"Me too!," Mr. Blue Jays shrill 'scree! scree! voice added, and he flew from the old stump, where he'd landed after the quake. "I saw some just back a little way from here!"
Helping their little wolf-pup friend brought everyone back to a sense of 'normal' again. With all he had recently done to assist her with the recent adventures she had been on, he was very tired, but he sensed he was a vital part of her safety, so he was keen to help in any way he could.
He was sure happy his own family, back in the old tree in the meadow where the Wolffe Family lived below them, were sound and safe! But, earthquakes shake the ground for many miles . . .
When Blue Jay and Mr. Neigh! gathered a nice bundle of the moss he had happened to notice on returning from his trip to the owl Police, they returned to find the little wolf-pup still shaking, curled in a tight little ball. They carefully laid the warm moss in a blanket over her. Soon, Miss Riding Wolffe sat up, warmed by the moss blanket, and by their love for her.
"Mr. Owl," she said in a squeaky, faint voice, "thank you for covering me with your wings. Your good heart warmed me so much."
"Why, my dear little Miss Wolf, I know that if I had just seen what you went through, and I needed your help, you would not hesitate a second to help me. How could I not give you what little I have to comfort you?" He spoke in a low, gentle voice to her.
"Do you feel like you have enough strength to ride Mr. Neigh! now?" Mr. Owl had his own precious grandchildren, and one of his favorite was a granddaughter, who was then just about the age of Miss Riding Wolffe. He thought of her, glad to know she was safe, at least he hoped so.
She tried to stand, but her legs were so wobbly that she sat down with a plop. "Well, in that case," Mr. Owl said, "I'll just share a story my grandpa told me about Noach's Ark when I was a young Owl.
"I think it will reveal some things about the old ostrich. It is also about Mr. Neigh!'s ancestors on the Ark of Safe Passage. Would you like to hear it?"
"I would!," Mr. neigh! said, startling Miss Riding Wolffe! "
"I was starting to tell the Otters and the old ostrich a story about my ancestors and the Ostrich Family on the Ark, and what happened between them, when Mr. Fyyne Pheetha, or whatever his name really was, seemed to get very angry! That's when he just forgot to speak in an Australian voice, and said a few words just like we speak."
"Oh," said Mr. Owl. "I imagine it will be interesting to see how our grandpas' stories compare. But, I won't tell you first how the Ostrich Family got themselves, well, really it was all the fault of the Father Ostrich, who got himself and his mate banished to far-away Australia - that would spoil the fun!," he said, chuckling. "Now, wouldn't that just be awful, Miss Red Riding Wolffe?" But, his little wolf-pup friend was too shivery yet to answer. She nodded her head.
"Well, you'd better hurry up and tell us the story!," Blue Jay said, "Or, it'll be too late for us to get back before night! The Sun has just a couple of hours left before the Moon takes its place. Besides, December nights here by Meadow Bay in the Puget Sound can get quite cold, very fast."
"Quite true, my handsome blue-feathered friend."
"Now, my grandpa's story about the problem between the Horse and Ostrich Families begins long before the Flood in Noach's day, and last time it was tolerated was when it reoccurred while both families were being safely carried on the Ark of Safe Passage, before it landed on dry land again, in the Ararat Mountains, as Moshe' records for us.
"Indeed, it all started in the Great Garden in Eden, where Adam's work was to make the huge garden beautiful, and care for all creatures there. Before Creator had to put Adam and Eve out of the garden, there was an incident where the Ostrich Family found itself on the wrong end of Master's, and the Horse Family's respect. Just before that is where I'll start Grandpa Owl's story of . . ."The Garden Conspiracy."
The Eden Conspiracy
A Story Told by Grandpa Owl
"After the Creation of Man, and all Earth, and creatures within Earth's life-sphere, and the Day of Celebration and Rest had come to a close, Master examined each and every creature, and all things which He made, making certain all was just as He intended. He found it to be so; all was perfect."
"Now, Creator's Plan was to make a beautiful, perfect Earth and Universe, to be enjoyed forever by all living creatures, whom in turn, would care for each other, and all living creatures, and non-living creations. He handed the responsibility to oversee His tiny Planet Earth to Man, Awdawm in name ("Ish" is the Hebrew term for "Man, or "Husband," and Ishah, is the term for "wo-man.," or (Wife of Man). Thus, with the amazing capabilities and powers that Creator had formed Ish(Man) to possess, Ish had the perfect balance of knowledge, relationship with Creator, and with Earth and its creatures, to make a truly awesome, wonderful, and unique Home for all things "Earth." The authority that Ish held over all Earth was formidable, as it only took a word from Ish to subdue any, and all other creatures, and to alter their lives to suit his, Ish's, purposes.
"Creator also desired for Ish, and Ishah, the most beautiful of all creatures Creator ever placed upon Earth, who's sole purpose was to honor and support Ish, to have complete love, and trust in Creator, and in His Plan of Life, and for each other.
"But," continued the wise old owl, in whom the local community trusted with their very lives, "within humans complete love and trust for another isn't possible. Creator alone gives Love, and apart from Him no creature is capable of giving real, unselfish love. For 'real' love and 'real' trust to be "real," there also must to be the ability to choose to give that love and trust to someone else. It's simply called, "choice." Without choice, love and trust really have no meaning, for who is there to measure love and trust against, if nothing else can lure those tow away from the first person, or object of them?
"We can only speculate why Creator waited till after the Fallen Angel Lucifer led a third of "Angels," to rebel against Him, to show Ish and Ishah His Real Love, but Creator knew full well that these evil-minded beings would quickly target Ish and his Ishah to entice them into breaking away from their devotion to each other, and to Master Creator. Even as Planet Earth and its inhabitants were formed, great conflict was waiting in the wings of the universe, to begin a conflict of the spiritual scope and spiritual kingdom of the Entire Creation, with Ish and Ishah at the center of the target..
"Lucifer was once the great angel of the Light and all that is Right. Cast down to Earth after rising up against Creator The Fallen Angel now was the central power and the source of all things Evil and Death."
Grandpa Owl's voice shook with meaning as he spoke this last. He was one of the first to tell anyone that his worst fear was that he would succumb to the wiles of this most decidedly evil, twisted, and deceiving creature, and that above all else, he feared that the death and mayhem which Lucifer was determined to bring upon ALL flesh, and the nations that the Family of Ish would eventually build, would be far, far more ugly and horrifying than the event they just witnessed of the old ostrich, and the entire Otter Family being swallowed alive into the ground.
He continued, his voice subdued, and in its natural, "hooty" tones; quite unnerving, if you ask me!. "Yes, for whatever messed up reasoning Lucifer used to imagine that rising up against Creator would be a good thing, it(Spirits have no gender, therefore they do not qualify to be called 'he,' or "she.") thinks that by luring enough people and spirits to override Creator will make it possible to banish Creator from His creation, or even to destroy Creator! Can you imagine such a stupid fantasy! Yet, the Hebrew Scripture tells us precisely that!"
"Also, before I go further, it must be stated that, had Ish and his Ishah NOT allowed the followers of Lucifer to deceive them, this story would never have been!" He looked around the now focused group, "And, even so, we each need to understand one simple truth; if Ish, and his Ishah, had not been deceived, and no one else before each of us were born and now live upon Planet Earth, each one of us would most likely be the first to rise against Creator. Then this story would have different names, but much the same events."
The silence roared in their minds.
In a moment, Mr. Owl said, "As creatures, we were not given the capacity, nor was Ish, to know all things. In fact Creator, according to Moshe', banished Ish and Ishah from the Great Garden in Eden, just in case they took from the other tree there, the Tree of Life, and with the fruit from the forbidden tree, the Tree of Knowledge, they would not only have His knowledge, but would have His eternal life. In their not obeying His command to not eat from the Tree of Knowledge, they had joined the rebel mob of Lucifer. Should they then live eternally, with such vast knowledge they would certainly have gained a horrible destructive hold over His Creation!
"I suppose," the elderly Mr. Owl continued, "when most creatures today think of the time when Ish and his Ishah ate the forbidden Fruit of Knowledge of Good and Evil, the thought comes, "Why? What in the beautiful time and world they were in made them do such a thing? The record Moshe' made for us says almost nothing directly about this, but there are very good clues, and some clues are so good we can almost see the whole event, with just a little help from our imagination. This story from Grandpa is just such an idea."
He waited a moment, again. "Moshe' and the Hebrew Scripture Recorders who followed each said in their own unique way, that Creator authors both good and evil. As our community protector of good, I have struggled to understand how Creator can author both, because I must work with all of my might to keep evil out of our community. It just seems overwhelming at times, to maintain peace and order! So, if Creator is making all this evil stuff to come our way, maybe I should just quit, and allow it all to happen."
"That is how I relate to my grandpa's story of what took place in the Great Garden. But, my take can wait.
"Creator made all: light, dark; good, evil; One prophet, or as that Hebrew term actually means, "Truth-sayer," Jeremiah, records that Creator created what is now working to destroy Creation. Lucifer is a creature, so this is true. Isaiah, another prophet, records for us in chapter 45, verse 47, much the same. He refers to calamity, but where does calamity come from, except it be from a creature that rises up against Creator?"
"My grandpa's story starts with all these specific moral points, so that we have very clear understanding how to apply remedies to our own, personal living as the story reveals events, their causes, and what was done to correct wrongs at times."
"I believe that is why that this story from my grand father is so valuable. If ever a day comes when this story is forgotten, and not told over and over to each succeeding family generation, that day will be a very, very bad one. Forgetting it, I'm afraid, will be the beginning of the End of Ish's rule over Earth."
"Now," he continued after a slight pause, "you witnessed the death of several creatures whom you just had walking beside you, today. This is a perfect time to examine this story, as it directly relates to each of us. Creator made good and He made evil. Did He also create Death? We know He created Hate, for He is very specific that He hates certain things, such as deception. What about Death, though?" He paused a moment. "Death" is the last of those things we need to fully appreciate, before we can make this story apply to our lives to its fullest capacity."
"Hebrew Scripture recorders say it many ways, but death is a result, not a cause. We can start with the little book in Hebrew Scripture that does not bear the recorder's name. It is named: "Malachi." Malachi is Hebrew for "Message - 'oracle' - one that the messenger could not hold back." Neat, huh?"
"In this minor prophet's record, Creator tells us that He hates Divorce, or "putting apart," as one under oath to maintain a permanent relationship, whether in good or in bad situations, and even in betrayal and harm, solemnly gives his strongest oath to never Divorce! I see some families torn by Divorce, where it is merely a difference of how to train the children, or even adultery, but Creator specifically tells us He hates Divorce! Wow! Wouldn't that have a chilling effect on those who take their Divorcing so arrogantly! To know they are being hated by Creator for their Divorcements!"
"This is exactly what Creator told Ish; to NOT Divorce Him, Creator, by mis-applying His commands! Divorce causes the Divorcer to literally die, because he has broken the oath-bond between Creator(Who gives Life) and his own spirit! Therefore, what Creator had the recorder of Malachi literally tell us, is that we immediately die if, or when we commit Divorce of a vow that we took before Creator with another creature, whether in marriage or other spiritual bonding. We can witness this today, as those who Commit Divorce have no life or love left inside them, and they try to replace the lost love with all manner of spirits, religious activities, studies, and other meaningless substitutes."
"Now," and the old owl looked around his circle of rapt listeners, "as we listen to grandpa's story, we can apply each event in it to these bits of knowledge from Hebrew Scripture, and then to our own living experiences."
"My grandpa would now continue, and say, "We do not know how long it was after Creation before creatures began to redirect their trust and attention to someone beside Creator. We do know that Lucifer was at least a rebel before, or right after Creation, and that Lucifer did begin to infiltrate Planet Earth with those fallen spirits that followed in the same evil spirit."
""As the mate of Ish, Ishah was at one time, I would think, like a newly-wed bride in our time," my grandfather would continue. "She was, as we know our women to be today, very much a creature of relationship, and her sole focus was to do exactly what Creator had purposed for her to do, to be a companion and a wise helper with and for Ish. She loved doing this, if we know anything about a newly-wed woman. Her delight, indeed, her very identity was in, of and for Ish!"
"So, what happened to this happy, satisfied young bride when she accepted Mr. Serpent's Deception and ate the Forbidden Fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good, and evil? We will explore this great puzzle, and we will see how easy it is to be deceived today, and to what fantastic degrees of effort Lucifer goes to deceive us!" At least, that's how my grandpa would say this!" Chief Owl winked his eyes, just like you imagine an old owl winks his eyes!
"Now, to Ish, Creator commanded, "Surely, the life you have will be lost as you obey and trust any way that causes you to disobey My Way of Living." Master made a simple test that any evil-hearted creature would fail. Master formed His Man, "Ish" with a great desire to gain knowledge about everything. Ish was given five senses - taste, touch, sight, sound, and smell to discover his space in Creation."
"If Ish had a heart of good desire then he would simply ask Creator, "Master," to tell him about newly discovered things. This trust in Master to inform Ish with the right amount of knowledge for anything he was curious about is what Master desires all humans to do, which shows honor and respect for Master."
But, if Man wants more knowledge about the things he senses than Master will tell him, Man will not trust Master Creator, and then seek that knowledge somewhere other than Master. So, Master's simple test for Man's loyalty is to place a tree that grows a very tempting fruit near Man, and then tell Man that if he eats this fruit to gain knowledge that Master does not want Man to have, it will cost Man's life! If Man does eat this fruit? Then it reveals that Man does not respect Master, nor does he trust Master, even with keeping the life that Master gave him, and sustains for him!
Master created an orchard in the middle of the Great Garden, where this knowledge grew on a particular tree, and in the same orchard, or meadow, on the other side of a babbling, small brook, there were other trees whose purpose was to supply fruit-eating creatures with food. We would think that Ish and Ishah also enjoyed the fruit from these trees, for they were aware of them, and their proximity to the Tree of Knowledge of Good, and of Evil, where His command forbade them to eat.
"Before Ishah was made from a part out of Ish, Ish was commanded, "Of the Tree of Knowledge of God, and of Evil, you will not eat; for, if you do eat, you will certainly die!"
Moshe' recorded that Ishah was first to eat this forbidden fruit. But, we do not have any record of the events that led Ishah to a point where she was willing to resort to eating the fruit that Ish told her Creator forbade them to eat! Even though Creator did not directly inform her of His command to Ish to not eat the fruit, she very well knew of that command. But what she told Master about what she learned from Ish about not eating the fruit reveals something very evil about Ish! She disguised her blaming Ish for not preventing her taking it, and then she revealed that when he had told her to not eat it, Ish had added his own command to what Master had told him, "Do not even touch it!" This loudly says Ish did not trust his Ishah!
"What Ishah probably did not realize when she revealed that Ish added more to Master's command to simply not eat the fruit, was that Ish had been disobedient before she was. His adding something to Master's word indicated he was rather proud, and took himself more seriously than was honest to his wife. His added order to "Not touch the fruit" clearly shows that he imagined that he was superior to Ishah! So, rather than simply tell her Master's command, Ish felt he had a right, as her superior, to make up his own command to her, to prove his having a higher place than she had in relation to Master!"
"Ish's added order to Ishah also reveals another evil he did. If Ish had stayed by Ishah's side, which grandpa's story shows he did not do very much at all, he would have known whenever Ishah would have touched the forbidden fruit, and when, or if that happened, he could simply restate Master's command to not eat it. Even if Ishah did eat the fruit, Ish could still have obeyed Master's command, and not have eaten the fruit, with Ishah."
Even more revealing of Ish's disobedience is that when Serpent tempted Ishah, where was Ish? - GONE!
"We know Master is forgiving, and we know He gave the command only to Ish, not to Ishah, so really, it was Ish that disobeyed Master's command. Ishah, on her part, tried to be dishonest, and say that Serpent tricked her into eating the fruit, so therefore she was not to blame for her own choices! Bad move, Ishah!"
"But, there is another whole book involved in Ish's added order to Ishah, and this is where grandpa's story really comes from. See, if Ish truly loved Ishah, and attended to her as Master intended when He made Ishah for Ish, then Ish would never had needed to tell her to not touch the fruit! He would have been there by her side, to simply say something like, "Dear, Master says I am not to eat that fruit. I would feel much better if you did not touch it that way, because I feel tempted to disobey Master, and eat the fruit. Is it OK if I ask you to not touch it?"
"But, Ish, in grandpa's story, was spending long days away from Ishah, so he really did not know where, or what or how she was living, doing, and touching things and creatures in the Great Garden of Eden! Aha! Ishah's revealing that Ish added his own words to Master's command given only to Ish to not eat the fruit shows all Mankind that Ish was doing the same evil thing husbands do today, and that is to neglect to give their wife their full attention, love, and time! Grandpa's story is really about his own failing grandma, as her husband, and as her faithful companion! In fact, grandpa's story is not so much about Ish and Ishah, and all the other characters that might have been a part of the events his story details, as his story is about himself!"
"In grandpa's story about these events, and later events these would end up causing, we can learn what a dilemma we creatures can make for ourselves, with our fantasies! Grandpa messed up his life with grandma, and this allegory helps to reveal his actual disobedience to Master's command to care for his wife, and how not caring for her made her life miserable, and grandpa's life very hard for him to live with, as well."
When time and events played out beyond the Great Garden, Ish's descendants carried on the rebellion, and it finally was so wide-spread Master had to put an end to it. But, that part of this story must wait!
"My grandpa would say, "It's pretty simple logic we have here, either keep healthy, and alive, or go eat that goofy fruit, and die! Which would you choose?" and, then he would say, "Well, it wasn't that simple, just like today, it's not that simple!"
"Anyway, we have just witnessed a creature that refused to submit itself to Truth, and suffered the consequences. In my grandpa's story, an ancestor of this very creature, an ostrich, was also a rebel at heart, and in its contrary heart, it devised a plan to . . well, let's just listen to grandpa, now."
"One of the first creatures in grandpa's story, which turned its love and obedience toward another creature instead of Creator, in order to win the attention of the bride of Ish was her close companion, a Mr. Eiderdown Ostrich, named so by Ishah herself. We can only extrapolate as to the reason that Ishah took up constant companionship, and therein trust of this Mr., Eiderdown Ostrich, but it may well have been because she was lonely.
"Ish, like males we observe today, loved his sweetheart very, very much, and gave her almost all his time, love, energy, fun-loving, and so many of the things a man has to make his woman a happy, contented bride. At first!"

Mr. Owl continues . . .
"However, Ish was given the awesome responsibility to work the Great Garden, to make it a home for the growing family of animals, plants, fish, birds and all else. In my thinking, his attention slowly became less and less focused on Ishah, and more on the Great Command, to go forth, and multiply all that his hand could touch.
"Within Ish's scope of possibilities, he had the unequaled opportunity to spend just a small part of his days with his garden tasks, and devote the majority of his time to His beloved Ishah. He did not need to grow food - Creator provided all they needed and much more. But, evidently he did not spend most of his time with his Ishah, and she had far too much inattention from Ish for him to know what she was doing, who with, and where! We know this because Serpent tempted her when Ish was not with her!
"All Ishah knew, was that Ish was not beside her much any more, and Mr. Ostrich was. Mr. Ostrich also paid much attention to her, and when she had wandered too far away from their small home to comfortably walk back, the bird's soft, "eiderdown" back was so nice and comfy to ride home on!. Her skin loved the feel!
"For his part, Mr. Ostrich was not giving due attention to his own family. His mate was lonely for his company, and their little ones lacked his attention. No death or disease had yet occurred in the pristine garden, but there were covert stirrings of unrest among the animals. Moshe' recorded little in regard to this unrest, except as its result, the termination of both animal and human populations over all little Earth, many years later. Mr. Ostrich loved the attention Ishah gave him, and even preferred her to his mate, since Ishah would pick his favorite tree fruits, and unlike his Mrs. Ostrich with their young hatchlings that took her time and attention, Ishah gave him her full attention.
"For Ish, his greatest joy was for Ishah to go out with him on the few occasions that he managed to persuade her, to see the progress of his dedicated work. He had put many long days and much sweat into the now beautiful areas of the garden, where a rose garden scented the air with pleasant fragrances, and a fruit orchard with most of the many varieties of fruit trees. Ishah was especially fond of the many flavors. She would spend many hours there in the company of the ostrich, who had a special palate for the taste of tree fruit.
"For Ishah's part of their home life, she usually had a delicious meal waiting for Ish when he returned from a day's labors. His tired body responded to this kindly treatment with an overwhelming need to rest after the meal, when Ishah would far rather have his manly company to close her long day of missing him so intensely. As day after day unfolded to become months, and then years, Ishah's affection for her mate waned, and she gave more and more of her attention and energy to the company of Mr. Ostrich.
To this heavy cloud forming over their relationship, Ishah's dislike for much of Ish's garden work made it look unnecessary and merely an excuse for him to be apart from her. To her it became boring and uninteresting. She much preferred the excitement she had with Mr. Ostrich, who would escort her on his back to many places where Ish and she had first been attracted to, and both, as a couple immensely enjoyed together. But that was then, and now she only had the distant memory as she rode the ostrich.
"Beyond where Ish's labors had tamed the lush, but disorganized landscape, there were dark, mysterious sections where Ishah felt a bit fearful, but where Mr. Ostrich loved to poke around and discover new and unknown objects and occasionally, unknown creatures. With Ishah on his back, he felt safe to explore, as all creatures bowed to her. That gave him a sense of importance that inflated his ego.
"Managing and caring for all the creatures Ish had tamed and then given special sections of the vast garden which especially suited them, and then working to create yet more sections for other creatures became boring to Ishah. With Mr. Eiderdown, her quest was to see and explore those areas beyond the tamed, to find and enjoy the excitement of new discoveries in this fantastic new creation! She could not fathom why Ish would be so content on spending day after day after day, in hard labor yet, to change the gorgeous wildness and vast assortment of surprises waiting to be discovered! Her boredom with the work of Ish began to lead her focus away from him as her spiritual guide, her protector, and her trusted companion.
"The focus of her attention from her Ish changed subtly. So subtly in fact, she was barely aware. For Ish, his focus was subtly reset upon another creature, the one which helped him at his labor, and then carried him to and from his daily projects. His faithful, beautiful black stallion, with a perfect white star painted on his forehead, and four white stockinged legs on shiny, coal-black hooves. An animal both large, intelligent, and strong, and responsive to Ish's commands to move things too large for Ish on his own. He grew to love and appreciate his horse companion."
"On those special evenings when Creator came to spend time with Ish and Ishah, they would wait together. For Ishah it was one of her favored moments as her beloved Ish, for the short time each special evening lasted, was by her side and awake, loving her for who she was.
Because of the white star on the horse, Ish named him "Mr. Starr." To celebrate his finished sections Ish invited Ishah to ride with him on Mr. Starr to travel there.. Ishah appreciated the attention, but it was not focused on either her or their relationship. It was usually quite disappointing to Ishah, and she began declining the request Ish made for her to visit his projects. Then on one that Ish insisted she visit, the "Hill of Remembrance," on which Ish labored for months as a memorial to Creator, and a place where all creatures could gather together to celebrate the Day of Rest and welcome Creator, Ishah insisted that she ride on Mr. Ostrich's back. Ish consented, but felt quite lonely as he rode Mr. Starr, alone.
"Ishah named their little house in the meadow, "Singing Grotto Meadow." Its setting, and the fact that numerous singing birds made the large tree rising above their house their home, where they would sing all day, seemed to name itself, she thought. By now, with Ish gone so much, her daily companion was the ostrich.
"For its part of this strange relationship, the ostrich was becoming less and less fond of Mr. Starr, whom Ish seemed to always prefer that Ishah ride to his project sites and to other places he infrequently visited with Ishah. Ish's preference for the horse made the ostrich jealous. After a time, he began to think of ways to keep Ishah to himself!
For Ishah, she liked how her "Mr. Eiderdown" showed her every consideration, encouraging her when she felt lonely, bringing fun little presents to her at unexpected moments, and showing her attention and care that she longed to have from Ish. The ostrich was a good talker, too. She craved the company of someone to talk over her heart-things. Mr. Eiderdown's soft, warm feathers seemed to calm her sense of loneliness, and she very much enjoyed walking and sitting next to his warmth, and the times he took her on his back. Unaware, her heart was changing.
""Mr. Eiderdown is really my friend," she often told herself. "When I need a gentle touch, his soft feathery feel helps me to feel not so alone. When I want someone to talk about the things on my heart, Mr. Eiderdown is always there, and he is so understanding."
As Mr. Owl finished this last sentence, Mr. Neigh! spoke. "You know my good friend, the story your grandfather told you is almost exactly the same as mine told us!"
"Did the horses and ostriches have a fight on the Ark of Safe Passage over the serpents?"
"Why, indeed, they did!" exclaimed Mr. Owl. But, that's much later in grandpa's story. Do you suppose our grandfathers, together on the Ark, were friends like we are?"
"Well, our families have shared barns for many if not all of our existence upon earth, and we never had a falling out that I am aware of," Mr. Neigh! said, in a pensive voice, "So, yes! Why would we not think that our ancestors actually shared the same berth aboard the Ark, and listened to each other recounting this story over all Time since, to their young?" Both creatures' faces showed a bit of new understanding and appreciation for one another.
"Please go on, Mr. Owl! However, let's be on our way back, as the day is just about spent, and I'd very much prefer to get back to a long night's rest! This day has been one of the longest, most eventful, and tiring I've had in many a year!"
"Miss Riding Wolffe," Mr. Owl addressed the still sleepy-eyed wolf-child, "are you strong enough to climb up on Mr. Neigh!'s back, and ride home? I can sit right in front of you, and continue the story on the way home." He knew her parents would be very happy to see her safely back home. Also, he did not know as yet if the quake had been felt back in the little village, and if it had been, what consequences they might find.
"Sure! I'm ready!," she said with a cheery smile. "Mr. Neigh!, if you stand next to that old tree stump, I can climb up easier."
Soon, with the little wolf-pup curled up in the warm, soft moss on Mr. Neigh!'s back, with the old Police Chief, Mr. Owl perched just in front of her, where both Mr. Neigh!, and Mr. Blue Jay, flying just above them, could hear his voice, Mr. Owl took up his grandpa's story again.
"Well, grandpa next said that one day the ostrich had had all he could stand of Ishah's riding with Ish on Mr. Starr's back, leaving him alone at Singing Grotto Meadow, where she asked him to mind the house and do a bit of cleaning. Well, as a matter of fact, he 'did' mind! Grandpa also said that often male ostriches live pretty much alone after they mature, and if one decides to take a group of female ostriches to make a family, he has to fight the current male that the group of females have kept and protected. If he loses this fight, it may cost him his life, and end his hopes of having a family. Mr. Eiderdown had a family of hens, but he turned his attentions to Ishah, allowing another male ostrich to take his place.
"Now he had a tough situation," Continued Mr. Owl, "because he did not have the companionship of the females of his own kind, and the life of ease he had with Ishah had made him weak and over-fed. He had experienced the joy of fathering, and a loving family of hens to fend for him, so this time without Ishah, made him long to have that again."
"Since ostriches tend to respect only themselves, and with Ishah's unnatural attention, Mr. Eiderdown become filled with an evil form of pride, one that made him think he was more honorable than other creatures. He thought nothing about the consequences his thoughts and acts would have for others, and himself.
"On this day, Mr. Eiderdown decided that he just had to have all of Ishah's attention for himself, and nothing was going to stand in his way to get just that! He began to cook up a very evil idea. But, in his own reason he could not see just how evil it was . . ."
"Now," Mr. Owl said, "here is where my grandpa would say, "OK, we're off with the rest of the story!""
"Several weeks passed before the first opportunity to try out his plan came along. He'd seen the sleek, shiny-scaled creatures which walked on two long, slender legs, like Ish and the object of his passion, Ishah, but he'd not succeeded in being introduced to any of their rather closed, clannish family.
They were known in the animal parts for being some of the most daring, independent thinkers among animal residents of the Great Garden in Eden. They called themselves, "Libertarians of the 'free thinker species." Not all members of the many forms of their species followed the 'libertarian' mindset of this group, but most did. He heard that they were looking for other animal species to join their group, but to do so was a secret he had to work quite hard to uncover.
What he found most attractive about them was that they hated the two humans who were placed by Creator to be the overseers for the Great Garden, as they wanted Lucifer the Angel of Illumination for that honor. While that attracted him to them, he also had to tell himself the he would just have to find a way to over-power any attempt they may make to harm the object of his desires, Ishah, if they ever carried out their hate for both her and Ish, on her. "It's worth the risk," is how he put it to himself. "I need her, and nothing is going to stand in my way!"
He also understood that these creatures despised Creator, and wanted to replace Him with Lucifer. He'd never met this "Lucifer" creature, so he dismissed the importance it might have by simply not including any consideration for the consequences for having association with it. He wanted Ishah, and what else mattered?
He'd heard that this "Lucifer" had promised that all the powers it had would be immediately transferred to all who followed it, IF it was made to replace Creator as Master over Earth. For the rebel animal movement, this news inspired them like no other. They resented the fact that Creator had only given His likeness and mind to the two humans. Attributes that they felt they should also have been given.
""Whatever," Mr. Eiderdown would say to himself, "What I need is a way to set Ishah free from Ish, to have her all to myself! This is as good as anything I've found so far, to do just that!""
But, one couldn't be too careful. As Master of Creation, Creator was one you just did not rebel against in the open! The scuttle-butt Mr. Eiderdown kept hearing as he snooped his way around this secretive rebel group was that the spirit creature the shiny-scaled rebel family was trying to replace Creator with had made a royal mess-up in its first attempt to unseat Creator in His rule over Heaven where it was the appointed leader over all angles. Now it was planning to make a final run on Creator from Little Earth.
"When Creator announced that His Human creatures is placed just above Angel status, the Evil-minded Lucifer had had enough waiting. Creator already banished Lucifer from Heaven, assigning it to the inner, molten earth for its new home. No specific record is given that explains how this evil-minded angel enticed Serpent to rebel against Creator, but Moshe' does tell us that Serpent was the most wise and cunning of the animal kingdom, which means it could best talk with Ishah and Ish. Apparently, as the Fallen Angel beguiled Serpent, Serpent became at least as evil-minded. Grandpa's story tells us a little bit of how evil-minded Serpent was in a bit, as the plan to take the authority and power away from Creator unfolded."
Mr. Owl's voice seemed to Miss Wolffe to be very, very sad as he spoke this.
"Animals and humans live within a physical world where five senses guide their living. Sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell define their existence in the most prominent part of their living, but they have a sense of the spirit realm, too, just not much. Over time, and even from the decline of attention to his Ishah by Ish, the spirit side of humans has been repressed, and faded into near extinction. But, it is a permanent part of the Human genome, and survives all attempt to quell it.
"As grandpa would tell us this about humans," continued Mr. Owl, "we young would feel bored to death. But, as I have grown older and I hope a little wiser, I have seen this lack of spirit awareness in Humans. I also have seen how we in the animal kingdom have had our spirit awareness limited by Creator, to never again allow the rebellion that overtook our first ancestors and nearly caused the extinction of all life upon Earth!
"However, this fallen angle, Lucifer, was only spirit. Its interaction with the Serpent Family and with other animal creatures was through this spiritual union with their animal spirits, and this connection was not sensed in the physical senses of both animals and humans. To overcome this obstacle to the plan to defeat Creator upon earth, Lucifer recruited the Serpent Family to carry out the rebel plan.
"Now, for his plan to work, Mr. Eiderdown needed a few hours when Ishah was away with Ish, so he could search secretly for contact with rebel members of the Serpent Family. He'd heard that they could communicate non verbally, with spirit voices that only were detectible with specially-anointed members of Lucifer's Order. They spoke a language that had no human or animal interpretation. it was so much babble and gibberish to the uninitiated, he'd heard.
""I've got to find a way to test anyone I speak with, to determine if they will betray me," Mr. Eiderdown thought."" So, he figured out two questions he would ask."
"Was one of those questions, "What does Ishah like to do"," Mr. Neigh! interrupted the owl, turning his head around to wink at the old owl sitting on his back..
"Why, yes! Do you also know the other one?"
"Yes, I do! Or, at least I know the one my grandfather told me it was!," Mr. Neigh! whinnied softly. "That's just about where Mr. Fyyne Pheetha, or whoever he was, lost his temper, and his disguise!," Mr. Neigh! said, "Do you know that Mr. Eiderdown, in the Great Garden, talked to a dark green and red, diamond-patterned serpent, Mr. Owl?
"Well, I believe our grandpa's had the exact same story! Do you want to finish, my fine Equus friend?"
"Oh no! I'm enjoying you telling it. I've told it to my grandchildren so many times, I get tangled in the words!" Mr. Neigh! smiled an Equus smile at Mr. Owl.
"My grandchildren love hearing this story so much, I have to tell it to them every time we get together for honoring Creator's saving us from serving the evil spirits!" said the owl "Are you enjoying the story, Miss Riding Wolffe?"
"Oh! Yes!" she almost sounded like her cheery self again. "Do you like Mr. Owl's story, Mr. Blue Jay?" she asked her dear blue with white-barred and black uniform-dressed, glistening in the late afternoon sunlight friend, Mr. Blue Jay.
"Certainly I do! And it's just like my grandpa tells to all his grandchildren, Miss Wolffe! I'm glad that now you are able to hear it! Please, Mr. Owl, go on!"
Before he could begin again, Miss Riding Wolffe sighed. "I wish my little human friends, Cynthia, Melissa, and Eriel, could hear this story, too! They helped me sing to keep Mr. Neigh! and I awake on the way to Grandma's house in the high woods. That was only a few days ago, in the Big Blizzard at Christmas. It seems like such a long time ago!
"Sometime, Mr. Neigh!, could you tell this story to my friends, maybe in a book?" The look she gave Mr. Neigh! melted his already loving heart for his little friend. "OK. I shall, just for you, my little Miss Red Riding Wolffe. And, for your friends, Cynthia, Melissa, and Eriel!" He grinned back at her. "OK, Mr. Owl."
"Uh, uh . . . Oh! Yes! Hey! That's great! Do share this grand story our grandfathers passed down to us with Miss Riding Wolffe's friends. It's for them, too!" He gave one of his big owl-eye winks to Miss Riding Wolffe, and patted her on the top of her furry head, between her little ears, with his wing tip. "But, I have a suggestion first! Mr. Blue Jay, if it's OK with Mr. Neigh!, why don't you sit right between his ears, instead of flying circles around us to stay in flight above Mr. Neigh!? Mr. Neigh!?"
"Do it!"
"Well, we have the two questions the wily old ostrich used to filter out who not to trust," Mr. Neigh! said. Is everyone settled?"
"Yes! Please go on!" Miss Wolffe's response echoed Mr. Blue Jay's.
"Finally, Mr. Eiderdown found and was accepted by one of the dark green with red, diamond-patterned Serpent Family members. He almost disclosed his plan to another one of the same colored and patterned Serpent Family people, but at the last moment she said how much she admired of Ishah.
"Another creature, also with a smooth, scaly skin, who was not a friend of the humans, a Mr. Alligator, responded to the second question correctly, but as they talked more, and Mr. Eiderdown asked if he knew anything about a movement to replace the humans with someone else to manage the Great Garden, Mr. Alligator got a bit edgy; "if that didn't come from Creator Himself, then that's the most stupid Idea I've every heard! Don't you remember how Creator examined all His work of Creation and not one thing was wrong? Mark my word, Mr. Eiderdown, if you, or any other attempts such a thing, I would fear for your life!" Mr. Eiderdown was not pleased with that response!
"So, you want me to set up a meeting for you to talk to one of the spirits under Lucifer?," asked the red and dark green, diamond-patterned serpent. Well, I can assure you one thing for certain, after they were defeated in their first attempt to overthrow Creator's rule in Heaven, they carefully examine and screen out any pretenders. One of their spirit kind, an Angel named Gabriel, who is a warrior angel with very powerful authority to protect the Kingdom of Heaven, went to Lucifer and kindly asked why there was a movement to overthrow Creator's rule in Heaven. Lucifer tried to explain but then, when he led the rebel angels against Creator, Gabriel betrayed them and Creator defeated the rebels."
"Yes, Even if I am able to set up a meeting for you, I'm sure that your loyalty will be tested, Mr. Eiderdown."
"Yes, I understand," the ostrich returned. "But, I really do need their help to get Ishah to see how much I really do need her, and how Ish is using her as his slave. He really doesn't love her like I do!"
"Like I said, ostrich, I'll have to wait for a meeting of the coven of spirit witches before I can find out if they even have an interest to meet you. They give us no clue until the last moment before a meeting, so I don't even have that much to give you. Secrecy is the prime object of this action!"
"Well, be sure you tell them that I want to join their society. I think that freedom from the Creator is the only way to live. He's so wrong-headed!" Mr. Ostrich said this to impress the serpent, but he was growing fearful of what the consequences could be, if there was a rebel rising. That possibility seemed so impossible though, and he needed to persuade Ishah to leave Ish, so he simply did not continue to think of the rebel act possibilities.
"OK, I'll wait. But, if they are willing to meet me, send word by one of Ishah's friends, but be careful to not let it out that I am meeting with a rebel spirit! It could mean major harm to me!"
"Quite sometime later Mr. Eiderdown was informed he was to meet the rebel serpent again. The red and dark green serpent friend of Ishah spoke to him one day. "Mr. Eiderdown, I'm to tell you that you have an answer about raising your children coming soon, from some of my serpent cousins. I'm proud of you for thinking better of your family! I was beginning to think you had no love for them at all!" she said, with a frown on her pretty red, smiling face.
"But, what do my cousin serpents know about caring for children? I've heard they're even less caring for children than you! I sure hope you know what you're doing, Mr. Eiderdown!" Then, she walked toward the cottage Ishah shared with Ish.
"Hmmm, I wonder how the meeting went for my project,?" Mr. Eiderdown thought. The serpent friend of Ishah instructed him on the path he was to take into the deep, untamed woods where he was to meet with her cousin, a serpent leader with considerable position in the rebel order, which she had no idea of. Anyway, he was now on his way at last. He wanted more than anything else to finally gain Ishah's attention! Nothing else mattered!
Heavy, warm, decaying vegetation scents made his stomach feel queasy, and gave him an undefined sense of harm. The untamed section he was in was overgrown, thick with tangled vines, dark and foreboding. But the serpent had insisted that he meet here. It had intoned that its family lived someplace nearby, in the darkness of this section. They counted on the fact that it would deter most creatures from entering, and therefore make the job of maintaining secrecy easier. Keeping their disobedience hidden was priority one!
"His skin was already feeling like it was crawling with fearful things, when "Hi there!" seemed to come at him from the blackness beside the pathway! His voice was just a forced whisper, "Oh! I didn't see you!""
""Hey! Didn't mean to scare you so much!," the dark green and red, diamond-patterned serpent lied, " I have good news for you! Are you ready?" He spoke this with a voice that seemed almost like slime."
""Ready? For wha, wha . . Oh! I nearly forgot, Yes! I, I'm ready. Mr. Eiderdown's whole body was shaking; his legs felt like water. "May I just sit down here while you tell me?, he said to the smirking serpent. "I've walked a long way to get here."
"Of course! Here's a little flower wine to ease your mind, too. The freedom angels showed us how to brew this from fruit and flowers in the garden. It rally makes your mind more at ease."
The ostrich drank the heavily drugged potion. Sure enough, his thoughts were calmed. He felt easier, less afraid. After a few moments, he spoke.
"Were they willing to help? Can I join? If they help me, how do I repay them? Did they tell you?"
"Ha! Ha! Ha! The dark green, red, and diamond-patterned serpent laughed. One question at a time!"
"First, yes, they want to evaluate you . . . everything about you. The Creator, curse His very name, seems to know their plans much too often. They need many new members, but each new member must be carefully selected. I have a plan for your acceptance that they said you must follow exactly. Do you think that you can Succeed?"
"Of course! Just let me prove myself! Whatever you do or ask, I'll do it!," Mr. Eiderdown exclaimed. His mind, he felt, was more clear than ever before! This flower wine must be a super food for my brain! I've got to learn how to make it, he thought.
"Good, good! I told them that you were serious. Now, we must take the first step. Follow me!"
"Mr. Eiderdown, even with the effect of the flower wine, felt his feathers start to stick out and give a creepy, crawly sensation again. But he obediently followed the tall, good-looking serpent ahead of him. They seemed to be headed for the area that many ostriches lived in. Sure enough, they nearly stepped out of the jungle at the border of the main ostrich settlement. Mother and children ostriches were busy doing ostrich things. No male ostriches were in sight.
"What are we here for?" Mr. Eiderdown's shaky voice gave his fearing heart away. He was afraid of the answer.
"Oh, just a small test for you, my friend. Relax. It's OK. In just a minute I'll tell you what you are to do. It will certainly prove your loyalty."
"They stepped quietly through the dense, tangled undergrowth, following the border around the edge of the settlement. Soon, they stopped."
"There! Now's your chance to prove what I know is your loyalty to the Luciferian Order, Mr. Eiderdown! See those ostrich children over there? Bring them to me!"
"Why, er, sure. But, why?"
"Do as you are told, Mr. Eiderdown. You'll soon see why this is a good test!"
"The tall, average male ostrich stepped out of the heavy growth, not far from the small ostrich children. "Hi Mr. Eiderdown! Will you come play with us?!" they all cried at once.
"Shhh," he said, "Come, I've got a surprise just for you, in the jungle. Come, follow me. But, don't tell anyone! OK?" He led the three little ostrich children to the waiting serpent.
"Now, Mr. Eiderdown. Gather up the children, and follow me. The children just stared at the serpent's bright colors and flashy markings, their eyes wide and wondering. It was the first they had ever met this creature.
They all followed the serpent quite deep into the densely tangled jungle, the little children close by Mr. Eiderdown. He thought, "This is nice! I've not realized how much I miss my little ones! I need to give them more of my time. I will have to bring them to where they can be with Ishah and me after this is all over."
In a small clearing, under a mighty jungle tree, the serpent stopped. Quickly, he grabbed the three children from Mr. Eiderdown's side, and in a swift motion, broke all three of their necks!
"No! No! No!" Mr. Eiderdown felt his legs begin to wobble. "Those are innocent little children! What are you doing!!??? Are you crazy?" His mind suddenly was much too clear! The pain he felt was real.
As he watched in paralyzed silence, the blood-spattered serpent tore open their tiny bodies. Mr. Eiderdown felt his senses begin to slip away. He was horrified.
"Now!" said the still bloody serpent. "There is just one final proof you are to complete. Do it, and you're one of us!" At that, the serpent pointed behind Mr. Eiderdown. There stood many serpents, their faces in big, ugly smiles! In the middle of them stood someone Mr. Eiderdown didn't recognize. He looked beautiful with a glowing, bright light that seemed to shine all around. A very dark light. Was this the angel of illumination?
When he turned around, the serpent was holding a little heart out to the ostrich. "Here!," he commanded, "Eat this and we will know for certain that you are one of us, and you trust Lucifer, bright angel of illumination, and he shall grant you whatever you desire most!"
"But, if you refuse," his voice became deathly serious, and quiet, "we will have to keep you quiet." He motioned to ten large serpents who towered over the cowering ostrich. They moved to a tight circle surrounding the guide serpent and Mr. Ostrich, completely frightening the cowering Mr. Eiderdown. "Here!"
Looking around at the assembly of serpents, and the glowing spirit creature, Mr. Eiderdown felt completely betrayed, lost, helpless. Like the end of something. he swallowed the tiny heart fast, so he wouldn't taste it. He shuddered as never before. His panicky mind screamed at him to stop. His legs 'were' water.
"Good!," the serpent cried. "Again!" The second heart slid down the ostrich gullet, seeming to burn his entire being. "Again!," the screaming, hissing voice of the serpent ordered. The last tiny, still moving heart followed the first two.
"Oh! How horrid! How awful! Miss riding Wolffe's voice sounded shrill, and angry. She was shaking from the horrible scene Mr. Owl had just described. "I understand, my little one," he said, but, it is a part of this story that we grandpas tell our little grandchildren about, to make a lasting impression on their minds just how awful it is to fall into the hands of Creator's enemy. Lucifer still wants to recruit new members into the rebel forces, building it to one day destroy Earth and all living things on this wonderful planet."
"My heart always stops with the horrible pain that that wicked serpent, and actually, Lucifer the Fallen Angle of Illumination caused," Mr. Neigh! spoke in a quiet voice. "This is the hardest part of this hard story to tell."
"How could those terrible serpents even make Mr. Eiderdown do such a thing," Miss Wolffe asked. "I cannot think of any way that any creature could do that to another creature!"
"Lucifer, the Deceiver, has no conscience, my little one." Mr. Owl spoke. "In my police work, I see how terrible creatures treat one another, simply because they take the spirit of rebellion given by Lucifer, and apply it to their desires. The spirit of rebellion is really the worst enemy of Life. This is why Creator had so many recorders of His Living Word tell each generation of his People they were sent to, to stay away from all forms of worship to this rebel spirit. It uses very, very subtle things to attract creatures into slavery to its terrible den of Death."
"Why didn't Creator just step in and save those little ostriches," Miss Riding Wolffe asked. "I would think He wanted to protect them. Isn't that so?"
"Yes, it is so, little, sweet lady. But, our Creator has given us the enormous responsibility to manage how we treat others. This responsibility includes, even, our ability to kill other creatures. L\f we do ever take the life of others with so little regard for their right to live in peace and safety, he allows that. But, our responsibility includes consequences. These consequences may not immediately be enacted, but Creator keeps a permanent record, and in His Time, He sets Justice and balance over His Creation. Our indifference to His Living Word, and to the rights and safety of fellow creatures is in His record. We all will face a time when He opens that record, and we come face to face with our own acts to harm His creation. This fact is ignored by Lucifer, an evil spirit that has no ability to think. It just has ability to selfishly demand, and use other creatures for its own gain, no matter what the harm and pain to others it causes.
"Why isn't Creator doing something now to stop this evil spirit, Lucifer?" Her face was filled with a giant look of question.
"Oh! My dear Miss Wolffe! That's the very best part of this story! But, it comes at the very end! Shall I continue?"
"Oh! Yes!"
"Then, where was I . . ."
When Mr. Eiderdown was able to understand his thoughts again, he found that he'd followed the group of serpents back to where he first met the dark green, red, and diamond-patterned member of their family. The light radiation creature was still with them, talking quietly with the ten, huge, mighty warlocks. They seemed to be deathly afraid of something. or someone, not present, or at least, not visible. Their fear hung over them like a dark cloud. The word "Warlock" just entered Mr. Eiderdown's mind from somewhere, or something he was unaware of ever having present before. Something outside of him, yet somehow inside his mind, as well.
In fact, he was thinking thoughts he'd never had before, that he could remember - powerful thoughts about ruling over other creatures, of his being like a ruler over Ishah, as if she were his property, or someone called a 'slave,' a completely new term he'd never had before. He traced this new concept to the same inner knowledge source he was now tuned into. He sensed that he was now empowered, invincible, and a powerful enemy of Creator. He liked this new sense of power-feeling, as it replaced his once always feeling helpless, and unable to manage to make his relationships be like he wanted. Yes, something deep inside definitely made him into a very different kind of creature.
In a few moments, two powerful warlocks and the glowing spirit walked over to him. "Good! I witnessed your test," the light-radiating creature said. "I must say, you were better than most who join us, with your initiation rights. I'm glad the children of ostriches are so left unattended by you ostriches! The serpents are much the same. I've taught them to even devour their own children, to increase their strength for the coming battle. Do you feel the powers of eating hearts of your children?" The leering face of this rebel spirit loomed in close to Mr. Eiderdown, seeming to demand an answer in the affirmative.
"Oh! Yes!," he felt his new power of lying. "It's a great power that I feel!" The leering look on the rebel, fallen angel spirit's face beamed even wider. "I'd say anything to keep this monster from doing the same harm to me," he thought to himself. He was afraid that this creature had the capacity to read his thoughts, so he quickly stopped thinking. He would have fallen dead if he realized just Who was actually reading every though he had! But, Creator was holding His hand.
"Well, I can tell you that I know every thought my rebels have, Mr. Ostrich, so don't you try to ever fool me! The evil-faced angel looked Mr. Eiderdown straight in the eye. "Don't you ever forget that! You'll never have another thought if you cross me! You won't be alive to have one!" His voice was overwhelming, like a hissing, frightening voice that echoed and bounced all through his mind. It had the intended effect on this new victim of Lucifer's Legion of Death, The Order of Luciferian!
"So, I hear that you want little Ishah, the pride and joy of Ish! How nice, Mr. Ostrich! Perhaps you can bring her to me, but, I can't see how your blundering mind can convince her to leave Ish or Creator. She loves both too much. She knows about me from the Cursed Creator, so she refuses to accept me or my advice to her. I've sent others to her, but she sees through their words, and refuses to join us. We need another plan, 'MY' Mr. Ostrich!"
"When the rebel angel said "MY Ostrich," the poor bird shook so much he was afraid the powerful spirit would notice and do something bad! But, instead of indicating the shaking was noticed, the rebel angel suddenly turned to the dark green and red serpent, standing next to Mr. Eiderdown. "Slytalker! I have a plan starting to form for you to bring our little lamb to us!" The rebel leader's voice was cruel. The ostrich thought, "How could I have gotten so tangled with these evil creatures?"
"Whoops!" he thought to himself. "I'd better not allow myself to think these things, else they will be read by this spirit!"
The fact that the evil angel creature was not reflecting any capability to read his mind escaped the ostrich's attention. It was as if he had almost no control over his own mind! He seemed to be losing control over his thoughts.
The rebel spirit huddled with Slytalker and the ten warlocks, standing a short distance from him. All he heard was occasional "Yeses," and a few muffled words. He didn't dare move closer.
Mr. Ostrich." It was the bright-light rebel angel. "You know, I forgot to introduce myself to you. I' am the Angel of Light, or Illumination. As you can see, I shed bright light around me. It is the light of my truth! But, my real name is Lucifer, meaning "Illumined One!" I am the only source of truth and light for all who renounce the evil Creator!"
"What we need from you . . . er, what YOU need to do, is convince Ishah that you've found a much better way to live. You don't dare say a word about us to her! Understand me!?? We'll know the right time to speak to her about that! I believe you'll be key to our overthrowing the evil rule of the Creator!"
"What about Ish?," asked Mr. Eiderdown. "He's very strict about their meeting with Master, I mean the evil Creator, almost every evening. Sometimes they even ask me to go along. And, 'that' horse, too! I don't see how Ishah will listen to me alone!"
"Now, now! You'll do just fine, Ostrich. Just be sure to follow our plan, or else . . ."
"Yes. I'll do just as you say, Lucifer," he said, his spirits picking up a bit.
"Great!. Now, just to help you remember, I've arranged for someone to tell the Creator what you've done to those poor little ostrich children! It'll help keep your thoughts clear, ostrich!" The evil angel of light's eyes showed too much evil for Mr. Eiderdown to look into them, not with his guilty mind making him feel so much shame.
Having abandoned his ostrich females and his children, the ostrich took up residence in a small, grass-roofed shelter not far from Singing Meadow Grotto. Often he could the two humans talking, laughing, and having a good time together. His obsession for her blinded his thoughts, otherwise he would have realized just how much he was missing out on the good times Creator had designed for him and his female ostriches. Instead, the sounds from the two humans drove him to wanting Ishah for his own till he was thinking jumbled, wild thoughts. Too often he found himself losing control of his wits. "Whoa! I've got to think clearly! If I'm to take her for my own companion," he'd say to calm himself down.
He heard the two humans in their cottage as he arrived home quite late in the afternoon following his encounter with Slytalker and Lucifer in the dark jungle. "Oh! Must I come home to 'that,' " he moaned to himself.
Pretty soon the voice of Creator, softly calling the two humans and all creatures who wanted His company, comfort, and companionship for the cool of that evening drifted in to his tiny shelter.
"Mr. Eiderdown! Please! Would you go with Ish and I with Master, for a walk?" The object of his passion stood just outside his shelter doorway. "Please!" she repeated.
"Oh, I'd love to Ishah, but my day has been so long and I'm exhausted." He dare not reveal where, and what, and with whom he'd spent that terrible day!
"Oh! Please!" She was persistent this time. "I'd really like your company, if Ish asks Master to go and inspect his work."
"OK, I guess I will, but, if Master and Ish go off to examine Ish's work I shall return here! It's just too much for me to go on another long inspection tour."
"In fact, Ishah, I'd love to let you ride on my back, if you want to return with me, if I decide to leave."
"Let's go, Ishah. We will have fun tonight!" As he happened to glance around, there was Mr. Starr! He'd heard every word! He hoped the savvy horse had not also read his mind! From somewhere deep in his being he felt that the faithful horse did know his schemes. That thought made him cringe. He also thought that Master had no clue of his plans. Had he only known, he'd have immediately knelt before Creator, begging for forgiveness!
To make his mind even more uneasy, the beautiful, black stallion gave him one of the most 'knowing' looks he'd ever experienced. He felt his face turn deep shades of red. Quickly, he moved to Ishah's side, his feathers starting give him that crawling feeling again.
In a moment, Ishah's sweet, charming voice was happily mingled with Ish's deeper, more subdued sounds and they went off together with Creator to gently refresh their bond and spirits. He couldn't focus on her joy with Master, as he was driven to mad passion by Ishah's light, sweet voice. His passions flamed inside.
"Do you want to ride," he asked her.
"No, not for now. I want to hear what Master and Ish talk about, tonight. Ish has been working on a very important project, and I want to hear Master's compliment for his wonderful work. Maybe later?"
Her response didn't please the ostrich as he was uncomfortable going along by himself. But, perhaps the two of them would return early, so he went along.
"Perhaps you would enjoy Mr. Starr's company?" Ishah said. The two of you are such faithful companions for Ish and I. I'll call you later, my dear Mr. Eiderdown." Then she gave him a big, sweet hug!
That's the 'last' thing he wanted, so he walked some ways behind the small group where they were happily chatting with Creator.
In the Great Garden, the dark of night settled in around midnight, each night. The dawn of daybreak began just a few hours later, somewhere around 3 AM, each day. The crystal blue sky above shone like a brilliant cut crystal, as the sun's rays touched the surface of the ice gathered on the outer wall of the metallic helium sheath that floated as a shield far above the face of earth. The much higher atmosphere pressure that supported the crystalline canopy protecting the pristine earth from solar radiation also gave all living creatures much higher oxygen content, and thereby a vitality unknown today.
The metallic canopy formed an electrical charge on the surface as it absorbed the solar rays, providing earth life with energy and vitality. The windless atmosphere and cloudless skies gave no rain or storm, allowing for a pleasant dew to form from the balanced moisture of the planet that cooler evenings condensed from the days' warmth. The small gathering of Creator and His creatures met in this ideal setting to walk together and commune on physical and spiritual levels.
Arriving where Ish's latest project work was nearing completion, Ishah was happy to see that Creator enjoyed her Ish's work, approving it at each turn as Ish led Him over the project.
Fruit hung abundant and ripe to eat over nearly all the Great Garden, so the little group ate to content as they toured. Master, along with Ish and Mr. Starr moved ahead, leaving the rest, including Ishah and Mr. Ostrich, to a restful, leisurely pace. "Oh! Isn't this beautiful!," Ishah exclaimed as she caught sight of Ish's many talented workings. She spoke not so much to be heard, but as a delightful burst of appreciation.
"Yes, it is very beautiful," Mr. Ostriches lied. He was right beside her, and placed his soft, feathery head on her smooth shoulder. "Oh! I like when you do that!" she exclaimed. "Your soft feathers feel so cuddly!"
"Thank you! I like to make you feel cuddly," the wily ostrich said. "I've something to tell you, Ishah, my friend. I hope you like it."
Oh, yes! What do you have for me!" Her eyes seemed to dance with excitement. She loved his many pleasant surprises.
"Well," he began, "I've been thinking. It would be really nice for you and I to go meet a beautiful friend of mine. He also is a gifted thinker, and knows much about the Master, Ish, and the purpose for Creation, and this garden. He even knows about life, and something about a great tree of knowledge. He's eaten from it many times, and gets his great wisdom from it. Wouldn't you like to meet him?"
"Did you say he is wise? And he gets his wisdom from the fruit of a tree?", she asked.
"Well, I've not seen him eat from it, but he does know many things about the Master that Master has not told us, and about a place a very long way away from the Great Garden. I think you'd like to learn from him, Ishah."
"But, master told Ish about a tree of knowledge. He said we would die if we eat its fruit. You say this friend of yours eats from a tree of knowledge, gains wisdom from it, and he lives too?"
"Oh, yes! He's very much alive, Ishah!"
"Hmmmm . . ."
"Why not go see him now?"
"Well, Ish and Master expect us to be waiting for them."
"Yes, but they just started. The inspection will take hours. Let's hurry and go meet my friend. I can carry you there and back. It's not very far for you, that way. We're fortunate that Ish's work is close to the place my friend lives in."
In Ishah's heart she felt a tinge of eerie fear. Never before had she felt this strange sensation, but she trusted Master's control over everything. She had never heard of harm, nor could she relate to the feeling. If only she could talk to Ish and Master about the feelings inside her, but Ish was always so busy with his tasks . . . Ishah also loved and trusted her faithful Mr. Eiderdown, and had no idea that there was any harm in being with him. Besides, she wanted to please her faithful companion.
"You think we'll be back here before Master and Ish have finished?"
"Sure we will!," the ostrich lied. "I know it!"
Well, it's never a good thing to promise something in the future! Knowing the future is only something Master can do. Ishah had no reason to fear harm, and wanted to please him, so she ignored the strange feeling inside.
"Let's go!" she exclaimed. "But, we must hurry back!"
With Ishah on his back the ostrich took off on a fast trot toward the jungle at an angle away from where Master and Ish were. As they went deeper into the dense, darkening jungle, the strange feeling in Ish grew.
After a ways with the thick understory slowing Mr. Eiderdown's speed, they entered a small clearing under a huge tree, eerily illuminated by the twilight of the deep jungle. It was noonday. A beautiful, brightly-colored serpent was sitting on a stone near the massive tree trunk. It stood to it feet as they approached.
"Well, I'd know you anywhere!" It's voice was smooth, and sounded to Ishah like it knew things she had never heard of. "You are more lovely than all of the words about you I've heard from all those who have met you," the wily creature said to Ishah. It spoke with a bright smile on its face. Ishah felt another strange sensation mixed with the first. She didn't like either one a bit. "I'll go tell my master you're here. He is hoping to meet you!"
As her eyes adjusted to the dim light, Ishah began noticing a small settlement with shelters clustered among the dense vines and tall trees. Most creatures were the brightly-colored serpents but she could make out a few other kinds of creatures moving around the compound. A great ram sheep was not far away, its huge curl of horns close around its face. Not far from it a bull and its cow were lying chewing their cud while their little calf romped nearby. She heard a rooster's "cock-a-doodle-do!" further back in the heavy growth.
She was trying to make out the shapes beyond the bull and cow when a voice behind her startled her. "Well! It's Ishah! I have heard much about you, my dear!" She turned to see a dark green and red, diamond-patterned serpent walking toward her. Mr. Eiderdown was following.
"I'm very delighted you've come! Did Mr. Eiderdown tell you how much we all have wanted you to visit us?" His voice sounded pleasant, she thought. "But, it sounds too smooth, like it too knows something I don't. I must find out why these creatures haven't come to visit us in our Singing Brook Meadow home," she thought to herself. "We've always invited all creatures to join us there."
"We have invited all creatures to come visit us," she said to the bright-colored serpent. "Haven't you heard?"
"Why, I'm afraid I haven't!" the serpent lied, his eyes averted to not show his insincerity to her. "I've often thought it would be great to visit you and Ish, but I wasn't sure we'd be welcome."
"That's a lie!," the ostrich thought to himself. "Every creature in the Great Garden knows there's a permanent invitation to every creature to visit our human masters! They tell everyone many times each year to come to the many gatherings they have during the year!" But, he dared make no mention of this lie, either to his new master, Mr. Slytalker, or to Ishah, who was really his true mistress in her position as Ish's wife, Creator's appointed master over the Earth and all its creatures.
Revealing the lie, and the liar, would cost him too much!
The serpent was talking when Mr. Eiderdown's thoughts refocused on his surroundings.
" . . .that part of the garden, and I'm sure Mr. Eiderdown will be happy to take you there. Right?, Mr. Eiderdown."
"Wha . . Oh! Yes, Of course!," he said. "Are you going too?"
"Why, yes. Didn't you hear what I said?" The serpent's gaze was too intense. Mr. Eiderdown looked away. "I, I was thinking about a trip Ishah took me on once, a long time before Ish had improved the Great Garden much," he lied. "I'm sorry." Even so, he remembered Slytalker saying that he read everyone's mind, so he was filled with fear that his lie would be exposed.
"Well, I understand from Ishah that she must be back to meet Ish and Mas . . I mean, her Master, before late afternoon. We need to hurry, Mr. Eiderdown. Don't daydream again!"
The serpent took off at a fast walk. When Ishah had climbed onto Mr. Eiderdown's back and they had caught up, the ostrich was puffing.
Past more dense, deep jungle vines, bushes, and small clearings where unknown creatures moved about in the twilight shadows, the serpent led them on, finally stopping in a clearing where two clusters of old trees stood on a small knoll in a beautiful meadow Ishah had never seen before. Fragrant, lovely flowers filled the warm air with their sweet, refreshing aroma. From the earth, a small spring bubbled forth, forming a small, softly-gurgling brook that divided the two groups of trees as it made its way down the gentle slope of the meadow to the edge of the thick jungle, where it disappeared.
In the meadow's trees several brightly-colored birds caught her attention as they fluttered about, singing and resting in the branches . "What a pleasant place!," she thought. Her heart was so relieved from this sudden change from the dreary, dark jungle that the strange sensation in her heart seemed to disappear.
"This is so lovely!," she exclaimed. "Mr. Eiderdown, did you want to show me this, and I wouldn't come before?"
"Well, yes," he lied again. "But I didn't know how to get you to come." He's do anything to have this beautiful human woman for himself! "How could I tell you how much you'd like this place, and still keep it a surprise?" He felt so guilty lying that he was beginning to think he didn't like his new, smooth way to lie at a moment's notice. It made him feel dirty, somehow. But, so long as it got him what he wanted, why not? "I think I've even fooled that dirty, murdering and lying old serpent!," he thought.
"I'm glad Serpent has brought you here, Ishah," he spoke so Slytalker could hear. He was sure the old serpent had coaxed her to come when he was not paying attention before.
"Oh! I'm not sure it was the serpent's asking to bring me here," Ishah replied. "I've wanted Ish to bring me to see the trees of life and knowledge for a long time. But Ish has been too busy with work. These trees are very beautiful! I think Master, Who knows everything, arranged for Serpent and you to bring me here! If' I'd known this was where you wanted to bring me, I'd have been on your back in a flash!" She spoke with a voice filled with excitement. It was what Mr. Eiderdown loved most about Ishah. She could be such fun to be with!
"Well, my friends," spoke the serpent who had warned the ostrich that he dare not reveal his name, "Slytalker," to Ishah, on pain of a quick death, for knowing his name would cause Ishah enough alarm to scare her away again, "if Ishah's to get back in time, we've got to hurry!"
"Why?," she asked. "Aren't we going to rest in the meadow by that delightful brook? And then return to Ish and Master?" Suddenly, the strange feeling inside felt more real than before. She realized it had not gone away. "This is seeming less and less a "surprise" to me!", she found herself thinking. "What's the hurry?," she asked again.
"Oh. I'm sorry, Slytalker said. "I didn't mean it 'that' way. But, I would like to show you something I found interesting about the Tree of Knowledge. Please, let me show you, if you don't mind."
In her heart, the uneasy feeling made her skin crawl. How she wished she had insisted that Mr. Eiderdown wait till Master and Ish returned from their inspection before going off on this "short" adventure! She felt caught between trying to give Master and her beloved Ish room to do their business, and her needs to be cared for and have Ish's balanced attention. "Oh! For Ish's word of guidance now!"
At the tree, Slytalker motioned to the lush fruit hanging all over the tree. "See? The fragrant, purple fruit just beg to be enjoyed. And, just smell that wonderful fragrance!" He breathed in deeply, which Ishah couldn't help but follow the example. To her, every fruit seemed to beg for a hand to pluck it from where it hung, almost ready to drop, and be tasted, enjoying every lush, savory bite! "This is the Fruit of Knowledge," the wily serpent almost whispered to her, where she stood, almost touching his out-stretched arm. "I've eaten it many times!," he lied again, for in reality, he had not even taken the smallest bite, for the very same fear as Ishah. "With every fruit I eat, I gain great knowledge. I know more now than all other creatures, except of course, my human masters, you and Ish, Ishah." He gave her a big, warm smile, holding out his hand as if introducing her attention to the inviting fruit.
"But, but, Ish told me that Master commanded him and I that if we ever ate this fruit, or even touched it, that surely we would die! I dare not even touch it!" Her eyes were wide with alarm, and she felt her heart trying to jump out of her breast. The strange feeling was now so strong that she almost felt sick to her stomach, a feeling she never knew before!
"Oh, 'that.' " Mr. Slytalker said. "I assure you, Ishah, I sure didn't die when I touched, and then ate the fruit! No! Instead, I've grown in my knowledge, I've become like Creator! I know good and evil now! I know so much, I'm becoming like Him!"
"What's wrong with that, Ishah? Don't you think that's what He really wants for His creatures? Is Creator so cruel He would keep us in the dark about His great creation, and about right and wrong, about life . . . and death . . . about love? What sort of creator would deny such knowledge and power?"
Serpent smiled at her, but she pulled back. "No!"
"What?!," he smiled slyly. He plucked an especially-inviting fruit, and took a bite. He ate the fruit as Ishah watched, horrified, confused, and wanting so much to be back safely with Ish and Master. It was the first she'd every known fear.
"Mr. Eiderdown! Please take me back to Ish and Master, right now!" She looked at the ostrich with pleading eyes. He looked at the serpent.
"Sure, why not? But, Ishah," the wily old liar said, "I want you to carefully consider all I've said here. I'm sure that deep in your heart you know I've told you the truth about this great fruit of the Knowledge of Good and Wrong. Ask yourself why Ish and Creator have commanded you to not eat it. If that is really what was meant, Creator is truly selfish. But, if He was only testing us, to learn for ourselves what is knowledge, then we must sooner or later accept this great gift, and eat freely of it, to become like Him, masters of both good and evil!" He looked Ishah straight in the eyes.
"Ishah, when you're ready, ask my friend, Mr. Eiderdown, to bring you back. I'm sure he'd be happy to do just that!"
"Sure would!," Mr. Eiderdown said. "Just let me know!"
"Now, you've got to leave to get back in time," Mr. Slytalker said. "Remember my words. I'll miss you, my dear Ishah, he whispered to her as he helped her onto the ostrich's soft-feathered back. He waved as they left.
The Great Garden: Eden
A mighty river rose from the waters beneath the earth, flowing through the land of Eden into the Great Garden. Leaving the garden, it divided into four rivers, each flowing to a fourth-part of the earth. In the Great Garden of Eden, Ish made other, local diversions, each watering a section of his work in the expansive garden.
In Master's Book of Beginnings, recorded by His servant, Moshe', the Beresheet, or 'Genesis' detail of Creation gives us fairly clear terms to describe Earth, and its metallic helium mantel positioned above and protecting the tiny planet from violent solar radiation and ultraviolet rays that inhibit life upon the surface. Later in the inspired record of Man upon Earth a recorder, Ezekiel, echoes this detail of the crystalline helium canopy shielding earth below.
The deep, interstellar frigid coldth was also effectively insulated from the surface of earth, miles below this canopy. Solar heat, as long-wave infra-red energy, passed easily through, warming, but not baking the atmosphere. Ground water, as a mist, spread the incoming thermal mass, tempering it, and allowing it to dissipate evenly on the darkened side as consate, during the nighttime.
As the curved lens of this near-transparent canopy passed light, it refracted that light to fill the entire sun-side of earth, giving a radiant glowing effect to more than the direct lighted sphere facing the Sun. Nighttime, therefore, was foreshortened, giving the fauna of Earth longer periods of protected growth than is possible in today's earth with its fragile, thin atmosphere, and also covering both poles with dense vegetation, as no coldth of discernible amount could penetrate into those far reaches of today's solar path. This is seen when deep-earth drilling brings up still-green, but frozen jungle vegetation from deep under a mass of jumbled, solid-frozen "soup" composed of soil, organics, and water. This mess was presumably deposited by the Great Flood. Later in this story this event is detailed . . .
The energy of bio-living creatures is vital to every cell. The dwindling energy we see in today's Earth is a specific sign that a cataclysmic event occurred in which the vitality and energy of bio-life was drastically reduced at some point. The metallic helium canopy naturally answers to the as-designed energy level of Earth's former biosphere, and its absence, now, accurately specifies the far lower energy levels on a cellular scale, diminishing all forms of Earth life.
The ancient oceans of this New Earth were tiny compared to the land mass and provided a balanced reservoir of moisture for sustaining all carbon life. From whole-planet studies, we now have a picture of the enormous rate of plant and animal productivity within this awesome biosphere, and from this picture we easily see why vast amounts of fossil carbon in the form of gases, oils, tars and coals cover the earth in great pools of collected, formerly-living material.
Creator commanded Ish to make order in this fast-growing tangle of vegetation, where it sustained animals far larger than exist today. Ish, imbued as most if not all human male are with a focused sense of 'mission' to doggedly perform a given task till it reaches a 'finished' point, even at the expense of family relationships, labored much too long in his assignment.
In her assigned purpose as supporting and nurturing equal to Ish, Ishah needed her Ish by her side for her to carry out her commission. Ish's neglect of his sweet partner set the stage for evil to enter their pristine Living. However neither had the slightest knowledge of Evil, for Creator had no reason to to introduce it to the Earth which He pronounced "Good." after He created it. To maintain this pristine state of Good, Creator made Himself available daily to His appointed overseers of the tiny planet, Ish and Ishah, during long cool-of-the-evening walks and talks where each had opportunity to discuss everything they wanted to understand, or to gain advice about.
With the introduction she had to the frightful sensations caused during her encounter with the serpent, Ishah could easily have discussed the incident with Master that night. But the fearing she experienced caused her to fear what He might say, so her fear held her mouth closed, even as her heart longed to share and learn, and be comforted by Her Master's Words.
Lucifer: Fallen Star
Fallen Angel, Lucifer, had prior bouts with attempts to lure fellow creatures away from their adoration of and respect for and their obedience to Creator. The angel's efforts had gained the attention, and allegiance of a full third of Heaven's angels!
Creator, not being threatened by His rebel creatures in the slightest, merely cast all these wayward angels out of Heaven but, to give Man the choice Man must have to decide between Good and Evil, that third of these former Heaven occupants were placed within Planet Earth, and given pretty much free rein as to how they interacted with Man. Lucifer, with what we might be tempted to think is the most stupid of mindsets, decided to lure Man away from Creator, to thus pollute, and ultimately destroy Creation, and replace Creator with itself as the Supreme Authority.
However, and this is where the 'stupid' part applies to our thoughts about Lucifer, this messed-up angel is completely subject to Creator, and absolutely must obey Creator, at all times! All we do know for sure is that Creator placed a tree in Eden that He then forbade Ish and Ishah to eat from, and then, before, or after who knows how long a period from the point of the angels' rebellion, placed Lucifer in his non-physical, spirit form with Man, on this planet! What a combination!
Lucifer was created as overseer of the Angelic Host. He no doubt had, or gained savvy management practices and knew ways to persuade Heaven's subordinate angels to do the tasks each was assigned. Now, as Fallen Angel and experienced management leader, Lucifer finds Man to be easy and unwitting recipient of the evil plans to take over Creation. In the Great Garden before any Evil entered human experience, this was especially so.
Ish's prolonged absences from Ishah and her intense, unmet need for his attention and her having the Ostrich as substitute companion opened the way for Lucifer's cunning management skills. The wily Ostrich held no allegiance to any but self, so Evil had a Prime Target in its sights. .
To effect the plan to disconnect Man from Creator, Lucifer, likely following the method(s) used to manipulate angels from their allegiance to Creator while still in Heaven, searched for the weakest link(s) in the Creator-creature ties among both Man and animal inhabitants of Earth. Moshe' records for us that the Animal link was weaker the that of Man, and among animals, the serpent was the weakest link. From Moshe's record we can gather rather accurately that animals could entertain pride, and the Serpent was a comely beast with sharp reasoning skills and a quite large ego, considering itself to be superior to other animals.
Lucifer's best tool to tear down Creator-authority is self-pride. In the case of the Serpent, that self-esteem was manifold in the creature's interactivities with man and other animals, taking a self-appointed authority over its fellow animals. Lucifer used this purely evil self-esteem to manipulate Serpent to unite in the effort to unseat Creator and destroy Planet Earth, ultimately.
Whether it is plausible to reason that Serpent manipulated other animals to help in Lucifer's overthrow plot, we do have Moshe's record to show us that both Man and animals had violated Creator's Commands, and He, in turn, destroyed the vast majority of both from the face of Planet Earth. The fish kingdom seems to have escaped Creator's wrath.
In Creation, Evil exists much as a parasitic fungus when it entwines its fibrous filaments through the host body, totally infiltrating and consuming it. To eradicate Evil, it is treated like the invading fungus, and both the victim and the fungus parasite have to be destroyed, else the fungus would remain viable, and a sure source of another fatal invasion.
From other recorders of Creator's revealed knowledge to man in Hebrew Scripture, we learn that Lucifer has spectacular light emanating from itself in some manner. It might well be that at noonday, in the near-glowing of the metallic helium canopy solar light, this light from Lucifer was a mere faint glow, and at night it was far brighter than the dusk of the ante-flood earth atmosphere.
However, Creator's recorders tell us that Creator also has light emanating from His person. But even at noonday His light makes the light of the Sun look like a dim moon! He, in fact, is the source of light!
Creator has another attribute to His light. By it all deception is revealed. If Ishah dared to go and ask Creator for His advice for the proposed act Serpent was manipulating her to commit, His light would easily and immediately expose the Serpent, the Ostrich, and Lucifer's agenda to deceive Her and Ish. But, as each of us do today, Ishah had no thought to disturb Creator for His intervention in the proposed act of disobedience. It does not take much to see ourselves in her!
Ah! The perfection of Human hindsight!
Ish
Do you know what being the single human Being upon all little Earth is like?
Yet Moshe' recorded that this experience was Ish's for at minimum quite some time! There was time to name all animals! With this much time and experience being the lone human being, Ish was a little like the imaginary "Tarzan of the Jungle, having only animals for his companionship.
This fact is VERY relevant to Grandpa's Story, too! It illustrates how lonesome Ish likely was for another human. It also illustrates how men today feel so alone until they find a wife, and then, in just a few years their interest and fascination witth this wife companion fades away, and she is left alone, replaced by her man's interest in his work, other people, or anything else.
Being a grandpa myself, I really think this is the deepest meaning of this entire story from ancient days. Human males cause most all human disasters because they fail to maintain family commitments, and allow jealousy and loneliness to creep into their homes, between themselves and their precious spouse, and even their children. Let's see what Grandpa's Story says about this as Mr. Owl continues.
The First Human Occupation
"For his part, Ish loved the conquest of his assignment! Being a human male his full attention was taken with the enormous task of its accomplishment. Before Ishah came into his life he was so lonesome, but with time to share his excitement with her, and to discover she was very different in her interests from him, his joy of companionship faded. His genes were devoid of the instinctual need for relationship that his Ishah seemed to have far too much need for. Her instinct to build relationship with him and spend their time as a couple building their home was almost entirely ignored by Ish! His sole need was to 'obey' Master's orders to make the Great Garden an orderly, good home for his family. Ishah was a homemaker, and she would simply have to fend for herself! Or, so Ish thought.
With Ishah almost insisting he spend more interest in their relationship, Ish had a problem that he thought was related to his assignment. He thought, "How am I to do what my commission tells me to do, to please Master, when this woman He made for my companionship wants so much of my time?" In reality, Ish had a far larger problem. He did not correctly estimate his weakness, nor did he stop to consider that Creator was immediately available to assist him in resolving all issues he would face, including Ishah's issues. Like we do today, Ish assumed he could resolve all the issues he faced, so, Ish simply turned a blind eye to both the tiny indicators with Ishah and his own imbalanced work-life. He was completely blindsided with the events we are about to witness. Had Ish only sensed his Right to call Upon Creator in his moment of lack . . .
Ish's work progressed well. Much of the East Side was now an orderly, park-like setting. Toward the West, and in the center, there was yet a large amount to do. He'd intentionally left it, as the Center was where the Trees of Knowledge and Life were standing, rooted in the refreshing water of a small brook flowing between them. He intended to make it a very, very significant place to worship Creator in, and to finally have a resting place with his dear, patient Ishah.
The West section was a problem. It seemed to contain the most unruly of creatures in the garden, whose unruliness had thwarted his every attempt to bring order. So, he'd neglected to stage an all-out effort to subdue the ornery creatures there, such as the Serpent Family, and the other reptilian creatures that seemed to enjoy the specific coolness of the dense jungle.
Ish enlisted many animals to assist with his assignments. The Beaver Family was especially helpful to clear jungle trees, and to maintain waterways to keep things green. The gentle bovine, such as buffalo, cows, and the goat-sheep families were helpful to maintain the fast growing jungle at a point where the tangle could not grow back fast enough to block access.
The Rhinoceros Family had dug the main waterways, and the crocodiles maintained them with their activities through them. Giraffes, whose long necks made it possible to mow higher jungle growth, held a special place in the plan! Parrots, loving many fruit, ate, then planted many fruit trees, and kept them tidy with regular feasts upon the resulting fruit!
All, except those who followed Lucifer held active, vital roles in the eco-system of the Great Garden in Eden.
For their nefarious, rebel part, Lucifer was training those in the Forces of Evil deep in the jungles of the West Section. Like The ostrich discovered, they were taught to kill, war against and destroy all the other garden inhabitants! At night they stole fruit, nuts, and other foods in the unguarded areas maintained by Ish's faithful associates, often destroying much of the orderly sections. They had only contempt for those who trusted and respected Ish and Creator.
Lucifer schooled them all to believe that only one obstacle stood in their way to escape the rule over them from Creator, and that was Ish! The Fallen Angel carefully groomed them all to believe the lie that Ish held no respect for them, so when Ish sent the huge bear family to tell them to keep out of the improved areas if they could not use them without destroying things, it merely reinforced Lucifer's deceptions!
"You must escape Ish's rule!," Lucifer would repeat over and over at the frequent gatherings they attended to listen to the latest rebel plans. "If Ish will not join our great cause, then Ish will just have to be defeated!"
"Lucifer," the lead serpent said one day, don't we have a plan to defeat Ish? You keep telling us we need to defeat him but he just grows stronger and stronger with the other creatures as he works with them to improve their homes in the garden. In fact, they have nice homes, but ours are run down, run over, and there isn't food enough to eat and feed our young!"
Lucifer's angry replies were always; "Hey! Don't blame me! You must learn to live with sacrifices for the cause!", so they quit asking. The evil-willed angel usually added; "Stop! If I had any way to stop Ish, don't you think it would have been done by now?!! In fact, that is 'NOT' your worry! It is 'mine', and you are wasting your time and breath to even talk to me about it!"
Then one day, Serpent approached Lucifer. "I have wonderful news! We have a way to get Ish to surrender to us! It is that silly ostrich's intention to win the attention and companionship of Ishah! We have the means now to finally render Ish helpless!" Lucifer liked what Serpent was saying about manipulating Ish with a plot to deceive and blackmail Ishah.
"What about Mr. Starr? Won't he suspect something, and go to Creator?" Lucifer was not quite ready to commit to the plan. "Oh, we can take care of that horse! We merely need to separate him from Ish, then we will have Ishah take Ish to the forbidden tree!" Serpent seemed to have the deadly details worked out. This plan just might work!
"But, is the silly old ostrich to be trusted with the delicate job of manipulating Ishah while not allowing her to see their real agenda?" Lucifer wanted to know.
"Well, one of my kind, the pretty little serpent maid that cleans for Ishah can easily be used to guide her to us when she is sufficiently led to accept our plan as the best way to gain Ish's attention." Serpent was really on top of this!
Yet, when Slytalker approached his little cousin, the red serpent maid of Ishah, she would have no part of his plan. She seemed to be aware of his secret agenda, even though he'd been very careful to conceal it entirely from her. "No! Cousin Slytalker! If I've told you once, I've said it a dozen times - I just will not help to get my dear Ishah to go into the jungle with you! You refuse to give me a good reason for her going, and I am sure you have friends there who would be happy to harm her! I have heard about terrible things going on in the jungle, anyway! Just go away!"
After that, a search was made for a creature willing to help bring Ishah alone to the deep jungle, when it was time. The happy Hippos in the rivers and lowlands with their happy kids chasing through the streams and marshes, wanted no part. Mr. Lion, King of animals, flatly refused. He'd told the messenger that if he heard even a rumor of any uprising, he and his family would scour the jungle for every last rebel!
The wombat! That rascally creature would surely help! But it was soon realized that even Ishah held little regard for this ferocious creature! Monitor Lizard? Again, no such deal. It was sometime later that the dumbest, least likely of animals to aid their rebel cause approached Slytalker, with a request to help him gain the attention of Ishah. Mr. Ostrich, "would," he told Slytalker, " like help to take Ishah away from Ish and creator"!
Careful plans were drawn up to use this unbecoming, silly-headed ostrich to wreak Creator's entire Creation!
Ishah's Dream
Ish, having no concept of evil, for as yet there was not any open rebellion, was worn out at the end of most every day. He loved how faithful Ishah maintained their clean, quiet little home nestled by the giant tree, in her "Singing Brook Meadow" setting. He almost always was half asleep by the time the delicious evening meal was finished, and wanted nothing more than to lie all night by his beloved's side, and rest.
"Ish!" Ishah screamed. Ish awoke from a deep, near-dreamless slumber, groggy from the deep sleep. "Ish!" she cried again. She clung to him with a desperate grip. "Ishah!" He was alarmed now.
"Ish! it was so terrible! The waters were rising so fast! Everyone was drowning and yelling and screaming! It was awful!"
"Ishah! What is the matter! What do you mean?" His sleep was gone. It was the first time he'd ever experienced fright, or one who was frightened! And here it was Ishah, his beloved with the fear! "Ishah! My darling, precious gift from Master! Why do you tremble so?!" His gentle, sure voice calmed her.
"Oh! Ish, I had a terrible vision in my head! It was so real! In it a flood of water was rising fast over the whole garden drowning everything and everyone! It was so awful! It woke me, and I was so afraid I just held onto you. Oh! I'm so sorry to waken you, my dear, tired Ish!"
"Dear Ishah, I don't know what you say! You are "sorry"! What, tell me, is that?
"Oh, Ish! I'm too frightened to know. It's a word that just popped into my mind, and it seemed right to describe what I feel about waking you! I had no intention to make you wake from your rest, my Ish!"
"My lovely Ishah, you can never bother me! Little did Ish realize how untrue his words felt to Ishah, as she had so long yearned to interrupt his work and ask him to spend more time with her! "Oh! If only her beloved knew the desires of her lonely heart! If only he would come home to her, and just be with her!" Her womanly heart was breaking for lack of her lover's companionship. His beloved was desperate for attention. She was nearing a break down.
"But, I do wonder about the vision," he said. "We always share what we see in our sleep, and this is the first we have had one that makes us afraid. Is there something I should know? Maybe I can do something to comfort you, my dear Ishah?" His words made her cry even more. She had tried so many times to make him aware of how much she desperately needed his strong arms around her, and needed his sweet, kind attention all for her own, but, he just returned to his work at the earliest moment, seemingly oblivious to her deep need.
This particular night was just days after she visited with Slytalker and refused his insistence to take the fruit of Knowledge. What if she had just taken the fruit and trusted his advice that it would give her great knowledge? What if, instead of her dying, it actually gave her knowledge how to gain her beloved Ish's full love and respect? "I'll have to think about this more," she said to herself. "Maybe there is a way to gain Ish's attention!"
"Dear Ish," her voice was teary, since she didn't dare tell him the whole truth and she felt something she'd never felt before, as if she was breaking under a heavy weight, "I've been going to the most delightful parts of the garden. They are deep in the jungle and one is in a clearing, with a grassy meadow and a little spring. It would be so wonderful for you to take a break from your work and go with me there!" She held her trembling lips tightly shut, for fear she would cry, if he refused.
As he did not reply, she continued; "But, there are creatures in the jungle, where it's so dark. I feel like I'm being spied on, and there's something covering me -it makes me feel as if I cannot breathe." Her voice trembled.
"Oh, Maybe that's why the dream about the Great Garden being flooded? As for the jungle creatures, Ishah, Master made everything on Earth Perfect. He is pleased with His entire creation. He tells me this nearly every time we talk . . . you've heard Him. Maybe it's the darkness?" Somehow Ish's attempt to soothe her this time did not help.
"Yes, my dear, lovely wife. Perhaps I need to take a break and give my best companion some good time together with me. Just the two of us! I'll make the plans, my dear! I'll do it soon!"
"Now, dear Ishah, curl up in my arms and let's go back to sleep. No more floods tonight! Sleep well, my darling."
As he promised, Ish arranged for a few days' break from his work. He told his many animal assistants they could also take the time for rest, fun, taking extended walks with their families; anything they desired. "And, he added, the Shabbat is in the middle of this break, so we'll all meet with Master for the Day of Celebration and Rest."
As usual, the workers assembled early. They loved working together in their wonderful home with Ish, their beloved master. His announcement was almost a shock! Slapping several well-muscled backs near him, Ish added," Have a great time, my friends!"
Ish thought his decision would please everyone. He was very, very wrong. First, he forgot to say anything about it to Master, and Ishah hadn't said anything, either. After her visit with Slytalker, she thought she knew what He would say, and she felt that heavy weight bearing down on her breast, making it very hard to even think how she would open the subject.
"How sadly wrong she was she would discover later. But, by then it was far too late to go back and change things." As he said this last, a tear was seen escaping from Mr. Owl's big, sad eye. He paused a moment.
"Ish was puzzled over Ishah's not telling Master about her fearful dream. Normally, she spoke to Master about every little thing she ever experienced, and her dream was definitely 'not' a small matter. He pondered her silence. Master was always patient and happy for both of His human creatures to share anything that was on their hearts. He always spoke a word of comfort, or had a kind word about anything they might have to share. He knew something deeply troubled his precious Ishah. And, as he didn't understand her emotional side much at all, or, for that matter even her complex person, he figured he'd best wait until he knew her better, however long that may be. But, his small choice to remain silent cost him his life!"
Trees in a Beautiful Meadow . . .
"On his way back to their little, comfortable home nestled against the tall tree in Ish's beloved Singing Brook Meadow, Ish called, "Ishah! Ishah! Silence greeted him. He felt an uneasy sensation, somewhat like Ishah had tried to describe to him the night she had the frightening dream.
"ISHAH! ISHAH!" His voice rang with loud alarm this time. He felt a new, frightening sensation. "Panic?" The word just seemed to appear from nowhere in his thoughts. Never before had he any reason to feel this way. He felt betrayed, "alone."
"ISHAH!" He was feeling so overwhelmed with a strange sense of fear, he could not think clearly.
"Oh! There you are!" The voice caught him by surprise. It confused him more. "Ishah said I should wait here until you come home, Ish. She said I was to lead you to where one of my relatives waits for you in the jungle. He will lead you to where Mr. Eiderdown and Ishah are waiting for you, Ish."
Ish looked at the beautifully colored serpent girl, standing before him. "Aren't you one of Ishah's friends? I hope she's OK? Why did she leave with Mr. Eiderdown? This was to be just the two of us! I told her I was coming home early so we could spend the whole break together. Why couldn't she wait?"
The pretty, red serpent maid merely blinked her big eyes. She walked over to Ish, and held his one hand in both of hers. "Ish. I really do not know," she said. "I'm worried too."
"There's that word, again," Ish thought.
"Something has been bothering Ishah for many weeks. It all started with a trip that Mr. Eiderdown asked her to go on with him, into the jungle. Ish, I'm really frightened for Ishah. I don't know how to handle this feeling - I've never had it before!" She lowered her head, crying.
"Oh, my!" Ish's voice broke. He was confused more. Something seemed to 'flood' over him, drowning him, somehow. "Dear friend," he said to her. "Let's sit down for a few moments. Perhaps if you share what you know with me, it will make some sense for us both. Maybe we'll feel better, too. I'm sure if Ishah is with Mr. Eiderdown, he's taking good care of her. He's been her faithful friend for a very long time!""
"Oh! Ish! I wish I could be sure of that! I've watched Mr. Eiderdown for weeks now, and I don't know what's going on, but I don't think it's good!"
"One day several weeks ago Mr. Eiderdown asked me two questions that make no sense to me yet. I wish I knew what is going on with dear Ishah!" Tears streamed down the pretty serpent's cheeks.
"What questions?," Ish asked.
"First, he asked, "What does Ishah like to do?", so I told him several things I knew she likes. But, why didn't he already know? He then wanted to know something that Ishah would like, that he could do for her to surprise her. Do you think he meant, "harm' her?" The pretty serpent's eyes were streaming with a hot tears.
"No! I hope not," Ish said. Speechless now, he thought, "Harm" my precious Ishah?! What could this mean?" A new sense of anguish swept over his body like the flood his Ishah had described that night. "Did you say he asked two questions?"
"Yes, he then asked, "Does Ish like me to go with Ishah and the black stallion when they go with him, er, I mean you, Ish. That sounded so strange for Mr. Eiderdown to ask. I told him, "Of course. You always like for him to go with Ishah and the black stallion when you show Ishah your work, or she just wants to be with you. Why wouldn't you, Ish?"
"Well, Lately I've had some strange feelings that Ishah wasn't well when I left her and Mr. Eiderdown. But, I never thought Mr. Eiderdown was any problem for Ishah. Now, I see where I've been too occupied with work, and not enough with my sweet wife, my little friend. Where did you say I was to find Ishah?"
"A friend of Slytalker is waiting for you at the edge of the jungle, close to your new work site. He is to take you to Ishah, and Mr. Eiderdown, Ish."
"Now, I don't feel good at all!," said Ish. "Let's go!"
They hurried to the edge of the jungle where the relative of Slytalker waited their arrival. Ish was in no frame of mind to speak a word to any creature, and, next to Master, all creatures in the garden feared him above all else. That is, all except the followers of Lucifer. For them, they assumed that their leader had powers even above those of Creator, and they had lost all respect and honor for Ish and Ishah.
However, even the great warlock serpent, relative to Mr. Slytalker who now led just Ish deeper into the dense undergrowth, seemed to pay respect to Ish, at least its silence seemed to indicate that. Ish wished with all his heart that his faithful Mr. Starr had been there with him. His big, gentle form had become a comforting companion for Ish, and now he felt so alone.
What Ish missed the most however, he realized, was Master. He knew if Master was there, it all would be made OK, and he and Ishah could just go home and be safe with each other. "Oh! Where is my poor Ishah!" He felt his heart pounding in his breast; it felt as if it would explode.
"Why have I failed my beloved Ishah, so terribly," He kept asking himself. "If only I had thought of her more!"
Suddenly, the jungle darkness ended. They entered the little meadow on the cleared knoll, where a spring bubbled up from the earth and ran in a little brook, separating two groups of trees. Immediately, Ish's heart sank, he knew this place all too well. Master had commanded . . .
His heart seemed to burst with the realization of what he may be facing in a moment.
In the very center of the clearing stood the majestic Tree of Life, just as Master had told then to freely eat of its beautiful fruit. However, until that very moment, he never felt any need to eat its abundant fruit. Now, suddenly, Ish felt weak, as if his life was draining out. He seemed to crave the life-sustaining Fruit of Life.
But, first he must find his Ishah! Across the tiny, merry little brook, stood the beautiful Trees of Knowledge, their fruit seeming to beckon his hand to reach out and pluck off the trees, even on the pain of death, if he were to succumb to their allure.
"Ish -ISHAH!" There stood his precious, beloved bride, a lush fruit in her hand, beckoning to him! "Oh! My precious Ishah! What have you done!" His confusion, pain, and a sense of utter pain dropped him to his knees instantly. "Ish - ISHAH! My precious! . . . His heart stopped, and he could taste the death that now awaited her. "Oh! Ishah!"
Slowly, with the weight of a thousand earths on his form, Ish rose. Focusing on his beloved, he saw she was there all by herself, left to fend for herself by the treacherous ostrich, and the serpent, who were to be with her. Now, alone, there she was, a pathetic sight, with no one to even care what happened to her, not even to think about how her heart must feel. He recounted in a flash all her many emotions, and how she always seemed to find comfort in his touch. He half ran, half stumbled to her side.
"Ish! It's so good you are here!" Her voice sounded hollow, and unnatural. "I was so afraid that you would not come, my husband." Her eyes seemed to search deep into his soul. "My love, I found a way to keep you near to my heart," she said, meekly. I've longed for you so much."
Ish's whole life flashed before his mind. "But, but, but, Oh! Ishah! What have you done?"
Unknown to Ish, the dark green and red, diamond-patterned serpent had told Ishah and Mr. Eiderdown it was best for Ishah to meet her Ish alone. They both begged him to allow them both to wait for Ish together, but he had insisted; "It would work out best for all of them this way." His disguised agenda was to use both hapless victims of his demonic plan to end Creator's rule upon Planet Earth. What did he care about the welfare of those he used to that end?
Somehow, Ishah felt shame and guilt, but more than all else, she needed her mate by her side, even if it meant that they would never see Master again. Perhaps, if she had really known the full terror of her choice, she would have stopped her lying right there. But, she had emotions that were far, far too much mixed, confused, and overwhelming to have the smallest awareness of a logical solution.
"Ishah! Oh my sweet companion! What happened? You are so unhappy! What have you done, my precious gift? Ishah, oh, Ishah."
His waning exuberance for a day apart from work with his precious Ishah vaporized like the morning dew on the meadows. Where there usually would be a feeling of warmth in the day's sunlight, all he felt was a cold, clammy sensation of lostness, confusion, and utter lack of purpose to his being. Where just that morning he'd had a vibrant, purpose-filled existence in his fulfillment of Master's command, now he was filled with a foreboding sense of shame, guilt, pain, confusion, drowning, and a weight upon his heart like a thousand cares he'd never known before.
The 'flood' over swept Ish's whole being, again. Moments ago he was nearly overjoyed to find her, hoping against hope that he'd reached her in time to prevent his worst fears. That emotion vanished in a sheer mountain of bone-shattering pain that pulsed through his body, wave after wave. In her hand, raised to him, was . . .'It'! From the plump, luscious purple fruit in her hand, a single, large bite was missing.
"Oh! Oh! - Oh! My Ishah! " The waves flooding over his soul, drowning him, kept coming. "Why?," he moaned. His whole strength fell onto the ground. he sank to his knees, again, beside her, dumbfounded. "Why!!!???" He groaned from his most inner being, weeping for the first time in his existence.
The shame he felt inside ended something inside his soul. It's leaving was a very distinct feeling. Like something had simply snapped under all the weight of his confusion, shame, guilt, and fear.
They sat, holding each other for a long time. 'Nothing' registered in his numb mind. Finally, Ish spoke.
"My Ishah, Oh! My Ishah! What have I done to you?! Why didn't I care and love you enough to care more for you than my work??" Inside him, the confusion was turning to a dying, desperate grieving. The feeling so overwhelmed him he could speak no more.
"Ish?" Was he not dead? He thought he heard his precious wife's voice. "Ish?"
It was her!
"Oh, Ishah!? My precious one. Can you forgive me?" He wept.
"Ish?"
"Yes."
"Ish, why are you so hurt? I thought this was forbidden by master for us to eat, but I was wrong! See? It was really just as the serpent said to me, I 'do' know! like Master! I 'do' see much clearer, now! Ish, Won't you take the rest of this one? It is very delicious!" His heart sank, even below the surface of the ground he sat upon.
"Good?." His voice sounded like it came from where his heart was, in the ground beneath him. Death murmured inside him. His earth stopped.
"But, Ish! It tastes so delicious! Here! Take the rest of this one! I can get another!"
Unthinking, Ish took the offered, forbidden fruit, and put it to his lips. "Yes, it did taste good." His heart stopped again. He felt the blood drain from his face. His hands were sweaty, clammy, cold. Suddenly, he knew evil. Like a flood, the knowledge spread quickly through his being. His mind went numb.
Now, having joined with her in her desperate, vain attempt to find meaning to her existence, his own life force seemed to ebb away.
Ish died.
"Oh, Ishah!" The voice he heard from his mouth sounded hollow, like an echo in the cave by the Great River, where the large Bat Family lived. A damp, dead sound. "We must go."
"So soon, my Ish? I really like you here, by me, my husband."
"OK, OK. I'm so tired anyway. They slept in each other's arms.
Dream over, Man
"Ish!"
"Ishah!"
"Ish!"
"ISH!"
"What? I must be dreaming, Ish thought," his mind still groggy with dead-tired slumber.
"Ish! Where are you?" Then it all struck Ish's heart like when he and Mr. Starr felled one of the gigantic trees as they cleared the Great Garden! "Oh!," he groaned. "Master!"
"Ishah! Ishah! Wake up! It's Master calling us! Let's go hide ourselves behind that tree. Maybe He'll go look somewhere else!"
Waking from the delirious slumber she had been in, Ishah cried out."
"Shhh!" Ish whispered in her ear. "Master! He's looking for us! Let's hide behind that tree. He might go look somewhere else!"
"Come! We can't let Master find us like this! We must find something to cover ourselves! Come! Here's some leaves, and a vine! They will help disguise us in the jungle. We need to get ready before we meet Him!"
As he spoke, Ish heard his voice saying things he'd never heard, or thought before. He seemed to be in a daze. "What was happening? Why did he feel exposed? What did it mean to be . . . 'naked'? He seemed to be reeling from one new fear to the next, with no sense of belonging to anything. Where was his 'place'? He seemed to remember once having one . . ."
Ish looked at himself. He 'was' naked! Then, over at Ishah. She was naked too! Where did this new sense of being 'exposed' come from? All he could think of was to find something - anything - to cover his sense of exposure. His body seemed the most obvious thing to cover.
But, as all creatures, merely putting clothing over one's body does not cover the 'exposure' that one feels after an act that disobeys a command from Creator. Their nakedness was good and natural, just as Master had found it to be in His survey of His Creation work. Having nothing to hide, the body is the way of all creatures. No evil can alter that fact. The serpents whose bodies wore a skin of scales, were just as exposed as the ostrich, whose body was covered partly in bare skin, and a few scattered, thin feathers. No, putting an unnatural covering over his body would not cover Ish's nakedness! He still felt fully exposed, helpless to cover himself the sense of unnatural exposure.
"Fear of something he could not describe, and so much confusion that his mind could barely focus on anything, made Ish groggy and his thoughts barely made sense to him.
On her part Ishah found herself saying to Ish, "I'm naked! What can I do to make myself not so exposed like this?" She started sobbing. "What have I done??! Ohhhh . . .!" Inside, Ishah's feelings were yet again a hundred times more confusing, intense, demanding her immediate attention! But, she seemed to have a new power.
Many years later, with the experience that human understanding over time would provide, which is so unlike the natural 'knowing' she'd been created with, Ishah would finally understand that she now had a power of 'reason,' a power which she had first experienced when she made up her own plans to get Ish to give her more of his energy and time by her using the forbidden fruit as enticement. She would always remember how wonderful it had been to simply 'know,' and never feel any need to 'reason' her way through things that she did not understand. To have the constant Presence of Master whenever she had questions beyond her understanding, she discovered by His absence, was the most precious part of Life.
Reasoning her predicament now, Ishah realized that she was blaming Mr. Slytalker, and even Mr. Eiderdown for her taking the forbidden fruit. "Wasn't it really their fault that she had found it so tempting?"
The little group riding on Mr. Neigh!'s back, and Mr. Blue Jay perched on his head, looked at each other in wonder. "What did you stop for?" Mr. Neigh! asked. "Your story is nearly exactly like my grandfather told it to us!"
"My friends," Mr. Owl said, "I stopped because it was at this point in history that all Earth Creation died. We, everyone, lost our right to live from conception right through eternity!"
"Even worse, Master, our Creator, no longer comes to walk with us each evening. And, like Ishah dreamed, the Great Garden 'was' entirely destroyed by a whole-earth flood! It came long after she and Ish lost their flesh lives and were no longer part of the living upon Earth with their children. But, I think, the very saddest part is that we don't know what we're missing!"
"But I know!" It was Little Miss Red Riding Wolffe. "I 'know' what it is like to have Master come along with me! He's my best friend!" Her voice was a sweet, small-person song in the woods. "Why don't people like the Mr. Eiderdown in the story, and Mr. Fyyne Pheetha, who got swallowed by the earthquake, 'know' Master?" she asked.
"I think I can answer that," Mr. Blue jay said. "When the serpents in the record acted like they had some hidden fear of an unseen being - the Fallen Angel of False Light - it 'was' the fearing of Creator that caused them to fear. They 'knew' two fears, the most evident one was of their creature-master, Lucifer, but the second fear was repressed, less recognized; it was the fear of Creator, for they knew they were disobedient to Him."
"Which serpents?." Asked Miss Riding Wolffe, "There were so many."
"Remember the "warlock enforcers"? What did Mr. Owl's story say about them? I think the 'fear' they had was from really 'knowing' Master!" Mr. Blue Jay looked very sad. "I believe we creatures have deceived ourselves for many, many years, just like Ishah was starting to do in the story. We are all guilty of disobeying Master!"
"I have so many questions!" Miss Riding Wolffe exclaimed. "But, I want to hear the rest of Mr. Owl's story!"
""Oh, we could answer your questions, our dear little friend," Mr. owl said.
"Oh! NO! If it's OK, just finish the story!," she answered. "What's next?"
"Mr. Neigh!, what comes next in your grandpa's story"," asked Mr. Owl. He was enjoying the ride on the old stallion's back. Flying back would have been very hard for his old wings. This was a treat!
He felt sorry for Mr. Neigh!, though. So, he asked, "But, first my old Equus friend, isn't it time for you to take a break, and let us off while you rest a bit?"
"Why!, I hadn't given it a thought!," Mr. Neigh! said. "I am getting quite tired, come to realize it, though, huffa, huff, huff" There's a grassy clearing just ahead, if I remember. How about I rest there? There's a little spring that feeds a stream, huff, huff, at the edge of the grass, too!"
"Mr. Blue Jay, you've been so good to deliver all the messages, "Mr. Owl spoke, "But, we should let Miss Wolffe's folks know she's OK, and we're just beyond half way home."
"Hey! Sure! I'm on my way. I'll meet you on the way!" And he was off.
"I sure like Mr. Blue Jay," Miss Riding Wolffe said. "He's so kind!"
"I believe he and Master must go together each day, don't you think?," Mr. Owl asked. "Do you mind if I wait to tell the rest of grandpa's story until after he is back?"
"Oh, please do wait! I don't want him to miss out!," the little red wolf pup couldn't think of having her friend miss any part of the story!
"Huff, huff, huff hu . . Me too! - huff, huff, huffa," said Mr. Neigh! "Huffa, huffa, hi, I mean, Blue Jay seems to always find us just when we need him, Huff, huff most! - huff, huff. "He saved Me and Miss Wolffe some trouble, and grandma, huff, a lot of worry when I told miss Wolffe, huff, huff, huff, we didn't need to send Mr. Jay ahead, but then we had an accident, and, huf, huff, there was Mr. Blue Jay!- huff, huff."
"Good! We're all in agreement! Till Blue Jay returns, let's look into what we have seen in this story so far. There's lots to think about, so far," Mr. Owl said.
"When Master formed His Creation Plan, it was with exact detail, timing and knowledge of every event at each moment throughout the whole endurance of time. Creator is outside and superior to Time and His Creation, and therefore He is present in every moment and part of His Creation. He tells us this in the records that he gave Moshe' and other Hebrew Scripture recorders to write. In fact, He calls His record "The Living Word," for it is written upon each creature that is born. Our bodies contain His Living Word; it is designed into every cell of our flesh, and into our spirit. The Human Being even more so than we who are animal, because humans not only have His Living Word in their flesh, He breathed His spiritual image into their spirit."
"As animals, we have great and wonderful design to our flesh, and we have a spiritual aspect, but Humans are a much more wonderful spiritual person. It is their eternal person. Creator made it to know Him, and when apart from His Presence, to long to be with Him. Even so, we animals seem to know and understand Creator and His Creation better than do most humans. Perhaps this is so because humans can go so much further away from Master than we can. We were not banished from the Great Garden, where Ish was responsible to us to provide and lead us forever under the Living Presence of Creator, which, of course, Ish failed to do when he joined Ishah and ate the forbidden fruit."
"Master is present not only in all points of Time and Creation, He is also the Protector and Manager and Owner of every part. He can, and does perform individual healing and protections at times which show us creatures He is with us. But He never intervenes in a way that forces us to comply with His Plan for our living. Like for Ish and Ishah, He did plan for their eternal living as He had created each of them for in their flesh bodies. But He allowed each to choose to reject Him and His Plan. Otherwise, if they had no choice, or power to make a choice, what good would their love be to Him? Love is a freely given honor that creatures can choose to not give or, to even gift it to those who have wounded and maltreated the gifter of that love"
"We see this when Creator gifted those who murdered His flesh body with His Love, Grace, and freely-given offer of Forgiveness. Even as they ended his flesh life by hammering large nails through the bones of His wrists and one ankle to a tree in the form of a cross-armed post to slowly kill it as He writhed in utter pain, He spoke selfless caring for each murderer. Yet, when we read the details of this terrible death we find that He felt so much more pain for those who reject His Living Gift of Reconciliation that the pain His flesh body went through was of little significance. Somehow, I believe that humans never appreciated this, for if they did, then nothing would come between their loving each other no matter how much each was harmed or hurt by anyone else."
"Love is so absolutely powerful that it overcomes the most brutal harm and instead of separation, hate, and more acts of Divorce and retribution, Love returns Master's gentle, sweet, and peaceful Reconciliation to the person that caused the harm. By this act of freely-gifted Love, we know who truly follows and obeys Creator. Any other action, such as rejection, or for a married couple, Divorce, proves that the leaving spouse has no relationship with Creator, and His Love is not in their heart even when they claim it is. By sharing Master's Love for those who harm us, we know who is a true Believer in Creator, as it is in our own application of His Love that we have proven our personal Love for Him."
"As grandfather's story unfolds for us, we will see how Creator's Presence was in every detail and event of every person and animal, and in the events of Earth as He brought all creatures through the disaster and destruction that eating that forbidden fruit caused. We will discover how our own lives can be lived in a way that proclaims the Love of Creator to all the Earth, and even to all Creation, and how each creature has the gift of Love, to either respect Creator with, or to use against Him, as that love is twisted by Evil."
Mr. Owl went on; "My grandfather's story has a thread of hope all the way through it, just like our dear Little Miss Riding Wolffe's life has a thread of this same Living Hope running through all she does with every detail of her life and every event she experiences. She has gifted herself to Creator for His Honor and His Authority over her living each day, even each moment. She gives to us the wonderful gift of seeing how her life is an exciting event in itself, but always she trusts Master to protect her and make her a blessing, even to those who harm her. Is this not what Master desires for every one of His Creatures?"
"So, it was that with the first moment of Ishah's turning away from Creator to seek another way to get Ish to give her what she needed as his spouse, Master was there at her side, observing. The moment she took that dreadful bite from the forbidden fruit, Master, in His eternal spirit presence, witnessed the act of disobedience and His Being was grieved so deep we creatures cannot fathom. He knew the full damage it would have, through the thousands of human generations to follow, and the massive damage it would cause to His Planet, Earth, and who knows what else beyond Earth."
"Even the thoughts of Fallen Angel, Lucifer, are known to Creator beforehand! In His Creation Plan Creator knew at what instant Ishah and Ish's great disobedience would take place. He also knew that Ish's love for Ishah was greater than her love for Creator, and Ish would instantly give his life for Ishah rather than for Creator, but Creator also knew how He would make His Own Love for all Creation even more known by Ish's act of disobedience. He, Creator, designed Creation to reflect His Love in the very worst of situations even more than in the best of situations! No evil can dim Master's Love! He just shows His Love that much brighter!"
Mr. Owl, one of the wisest creatures, went on; "So, we, in this little group and our precious friends, Cynthia Joy, Melissa Joy, and Eriel, each of us has a history of relationship with our Creator, and each of us can look at our history, and, just like Creator, we can tell where we messed up in obeying Him and where we showed His Love to those whom we felt we were harmed by. We are like every creature He makes, able to know good, from evil."
"Just like Ishah and Ish, we know when we love another creature more than Creator."
"But Master's Way is to Love others selflessly as He loves, which is to give Him our honor first, then give His Love to those about us, especially to those who harm us! It is only by our loving those who harm us that our love and honor for Master is shown! It takes His Love to do so! Our love is much too weak to selflessly love those who harm us."
"Mr. Owl, how do we learn to love with Master's Love?," Miss Riding Wolffe asked. "I know how I love Master, but how do I love those who hurt me with His Love?" Her eyes were big and so sincere, as she turned her head toward the old owl, that he wanted to give her a big hug!
"It funny that you should ask, Miss Wolffe!" Of all of us, you love with Master's Love the best! But, for my grandfather, he wanted every listener of this story to be able to know, and apply that very thing from hearing this story! So, if you don't mind, Miss Wolffe, I will share how you live the way of selfless love for others as you love Creator first.".
"I remember the event of last year when you got into a little misunderstanding with Mrs. Weasel. She was anything but nice to you! And she was so wrong, too! But remember how you returned her meanness with kind thoughts and words? Then later, when you made that special treat of baked crickets for her, her favorite dessert?"
"Yes! That was a fun surprise! You should have seen her face!." Miss Wolffe chuckled at the memory.
"See? That's what real Love does! It responds to a bad event by turning it into a gift of selfless Love! It takes a time of hurt and harm, and instead of allowing the natural, sinful reaction of rejection to break apart a relationship, it cements that relationship together even better than before, and makes the two creatures a whole lot better for it! How do each of us handle harm? With selfless Love? Or with our natural, sinful pride?," Mr. Owl asked.
"Master's Way is selfless love, despite all natural sense of separation, Divorce, and harm in the form of retaliation. Instead of giving harm in like or worse kind, selfless Love and forgiveness is returned so the relationship is far stronger than before. If another harm comes along, then another gift of selfless Love is given. We are creatures of habit, and many of us harm others as a habit, so selfless love is tough for us to give, but selfless love always wins! Just remember this and you will have a life filled to overflowing with love, Real Love!"
Is Master's Original Hebrew Record Still Trustworthy?
"The Living Word of Creator was recorded by His Messengers in Hebrew, their native language, the language most of them spoke. So, in the beginning of Creator's Living Word, it was known to be accurate, and faithful in every copy that was made by the Hebrew scribes, to be shared with those who desired to obey Creator but lived far away from the main place where His Living Word records were kept."
"My grandfather was given a story about his ancestors, who lived among the ancient people where this Living Word was first recorded and kept in a great temple in Y'rushalayim, or City Of Peace. His ancestors lived in the stables where the donkeys who carried these records lived. Those donkeys had many interesting stories to tell, but one of their most interesting was one where those records were hunted down and destroyed by invading peoples who despised Creator and His Living Word. But, because those invaders thought the Living Word was kept only in the Great Temple, they forgot to check the donkey's stables!"
"So today, we still have exact copies of the Living Word kept by Creator, Who uses every one of His creatures to Keep His Living Word available to all who desire to obey Him! In fact, comparisons between extremely old copies discovered in remote desert caves in that land show there is not a single word difference between current copies and the most ancient we have today!"
"Mr. Neigh!'s family tradition has been to protect all the descendants of Ish and Ishah from the wily deceptions of the Ostrich Family, since their deception started with Mr. Eiderdown, with his deceiving Ishah to start such a terrible destruction of life on Earth. Mr. Neigh!'s family devotion to obey Master, to protect from those who want to deceive and ruin Master's Creation, illustrates a point we all need to know."
"In fact, during the rest of grandpa's story, Mr. Starr's horse family, Mr. Neigh!'s ancestors, work with the Family that Creator appointed to save all creature species on Earth from complete destruction, to do just that and they gave up their safety at times to save these precious few survivors in my grandpa's story."
"In our lives, there are deceivers who will do anything to take our relationship with Creator away and replace it with a wild chase for separation from Creator and His Living Word. Even our family can do this. There are some parents who guide their children to think that they should spurn a Divorced spouse or a family member that the parents have decided is too bad for their children and themselves to associate with! This is another and very deceiving method of separation from Creator."
"That's terrible! What mother or father would do such a thing!," exclaimed Miss Wolffe. "My parents would never do that!" Little did she know that in later generations of her family, just that would be practiced by the wolf order. Even to the destroying of families that they would hunt down as their meals!
"Obedience." Mr. Owl continued, "Obedience is the true element that grandpa's story is all about. Mr. Eiderdown exampled what the opposite of obedience is; and Mr. Starr, what the act of obedience is all about. Ishah, in her desperation for Ish's attention, disobeyed Creator after she looked to her own heart to find a way to get what she craved, the togetherness with her Ish, but she really did not love him. She merely wanted to satisfy her inner craving for his attention."
"Ish, when he put most all his time and energy into obeying Master's command to tend to the Great Garden, actually disobeyed Master's first command, which is for His creatures to love Master first, then to love other creatures! In the end Ish lost both Master's Presence and His daily communion, and Ishah's wonderful respect and her ability to make him the most happy man ever created! He simply learned too late what he should have paid attention to first, honoring his Creator first, and then Ishah."
"In a sense those horses who worked to save Earth creatures from destruction were messengers sent to lead Creator's beloved creatures to safety. After that rescue, Creator keeps on sending His messengers to lead us all to His Truth and safety from sure destruction by our own acts of disobedience! If this is not selfless Love, then I have no idea what such Love is!," the old owl exclaimed.
"Grandpa's story also details what willful disobedience is. In it we find willful disobedience is a planned, determined form of hatred, or despising, of and against Creator. It is the theme and the entire focus of Fallen Angel Lucifer, which evil spirit has no room for turning back to Creator for reconciliation, forgiveness, or even stopping its efforts to overcome Creator! Lucifer works constantly to infiltrate every group that assembles to honor Creator, and introduces twisted lies mixed with very small amounts of truth to confuse, divide and mislead members of every group that comes together to give glory and honor to Creator! The rest of this story shows just how far and how hidden and determined Lucifer, and those who follow that evil spirit will go to deceive, betray, and ruin creature relationships with Creator and one another!"
"One messenger to the Hebrew People compared disobedience and obedience to clay. When it is first worked, clay is soft, pliable, and forms easily to most any shape. When we creatures have a soft, pliable mind and heart toward Creator, He only needs a gentle touch to form us to His Plan for our Living. But, through time and repeated disobedience, which is like a drying to our once soft mind and heart, we become harder. It takes harsher and more painful guidance on Master's part to set us back in focus to His Plan for us!"
"So," Miss Riding Wolffe asked, "Is that why Ishah didn't just go and eat the fruit the first time the serpent told her she should? Instead, her heart was still soft enough that she could resist the temptation, but later, when she finally got Ish to take a break, and give her and them time and attention, she went back and talked to that evil Mr. Slytalker and was so hardened against Master that she ignored His spirit presence in her heart?"
""Well, well! You sure are a bright young Miss Riding Wolffe! I wish that everyone would see and understand why dear Ishah did not eat the fruit at the first attempt to get her to. We would all be better if we understand why we have a natural resistance to disobedience at first, but with time and our evil power to reason why it would be OK to disobey, we wear down, or harden our mind and heart to Creator's spirit within.! Well done, Miss Wolffe!"
"Another part of the messenger's clay illustration is that that lump of soft clay does not look up at Creator, Who is forming it, and say, "Hey! Wait a minute! I hate this form You are making me into! Now, change me into 'that' form!" No, the soft clay simply enjoys the gentle touch of Master's hands and His true Love being gifted to it, and takes delight in Master's Presence!"
"In fact, that soft clay simply trusts Creator! That's the highest compliment any creature can give Creator; Trust!"
"Mr. Owl, I don't understand," Miss Wolffe said. How does trust make for the best compliment we have to give to Creator?" Her face was wrinkled into a puzzled frown.
"Perhaps I can say something to help, Mr. Owl," Mr. Neigh! said. "Miss Wolffe, my ancestors who helped to lead creatures to safety simply trusted Creator to show them His Plan, and when they followed His directions to do His Will, it was still a simple act of trust. Out of trust all else comes to be; We walk here, right now on the way back to our home because we first trust Creator to be directing our way to suit His Plan for our Living. Really, it's very simple!" He whinnied a soft horse word to show he loved his little friend.
"Well, I had another answer for her," Mr. Owl said, "But yours is much better!"
"Now," Mr. Owl said, "we have a more difficult concept in grandpa's story to understand. Master's Plan for His Creation was in His thoughts before He simply gave the voice of command to make Creation appear. But how does He account for all the things that we see as going against His Creation, such as Lucifer leading so many angels to rebel, or Ishah to accept the deceptions and eat the forbidden fruit, or for Mr. Fyyne Pheetha to come here for whatever reason, and try to fool us with his lying?"
There was silence with his listeners. Each had a thought, but waited in respect for Mr. Owl.
"Well, I'm fairly certain each of us has some concept for this," he said, "but, in the story it is clear that something has to happen that brings all the destruction of Planet Earth and abandonment of the wonderful Great Garden when Creator banished Ishah and Ish from it, to a point where it all fits in together with Master's Plan for His Creation. Remember, He never does anything that is meant, in the end, for destruction! He is Life, and Life cannot overcome Death if Death and Destruction remain after they have ruined Creation! Simple to say, but hard to understand!"
"Yes," he continued, "Master's Plan includes problems, imperfection, destruction, and all forms of evil! Indeed! if it did not include such, what worth would His Creation be? For, if Creation merely followed a set guide that kept it from harm, then there would be no need for Master to step in and show His authority over destruction! And, if I'm any judge of creature emotions, I say that all we creatures would be living in fear that some destroying evil more powerful than Creator would come and utterly destroy us!"
"Within the rest of grandpa's story, we will be seeing this concept of Creator's Will being performed even as events and people in the story seem to be too far outside Creator's Plan for them and their acts to give honor and respect back to him. We will find Him to be way, far away outside of our small ability to imagine how much evil He has power to overcome!"
"In our own, personal living we experience events and persons that harm us and make us feel unsafe. Instead of sharing Creator's Love with the people harming us, we run away and even say terrible things about them. In doing so we actually are saying to Creator, "You are too small to handle my problems! Leave me alone!" And we live out our lives in misery, fear, and disobedience instead of gifting those who harm us with Creator's selfless Love by our acknowledging His respect for them as He made them, same as us, and He sustains their lives like He does ours. Then we are doing the same evil as those serpents in grandpa's story!"
"Ouch! I never thought of my spurning Mr. Fyyne Pheetha in that light!," Mr. Neigh! said. "I'd better rethink my view of the entire Ostrich Family, in that case!"
"Now! That's exactly what I think my grandfather wanted his telling of this story over and over to do for those who really listen, and hear it, to do!," exclaimed Mr. Owl.
"We are born in the same spirit of self-will that Ish and Ishah died in. We animals, too, had this same spirit of rebellion, as it is recorded in Hebrew Scripture, it was one of the animal kingdom that disobeyed Creator before Ishah and Ish were deceived. So all flesh, just as Creator says in Moshe's record, disobeyed Creator, and all of us, animal and human alike, must suffer the consequences. But," and Mr. Owl spoke a bit louder to make the point, "with our disobedience, Master has given the opportunity - and, yes! it 'is' His Plan! - to show even more of His selfless Love, His Authority, and His Respect for His Creation!"
"Regarding "respect," Mr. Owl said, in a deep, owly tone, "I see far too much disrespect for those who harm us! Mr. Neigh!, with your permission, I will use you for an example, here."
"Sure, my trusted friend, I'm certain that my life is open to all, and you know all there is about me, so I fear no exposure of something I'm going to regret you sharing!" He turned his head around to look Mr. Owl, perched on his back in front of Miss Wolffe, and winked!
"OK! Enough theatrics, old friend! You've always been honest, open and trusting with me, so I feel confident you will agree to what I'm about to share!"
"Mr. Neigh!, as I was about to begin before being so rudely interrupted," and he gave Mr. Neigh! a little squeeze with the sharp talons on one foot!, "your reaction to Mr. Fyyne Pheetha as you met him at the bottom of that slippery slide down the side of the ravine, illustrates this point! You had absolutely no respect for Mr. Fyyne Pheetha!"
"Whoa! I had never thought about my instinctual reaction to Ostriches in 'that' light!" Exclaimed Mr. Neigh! "Now that you've shared all that your grandpa taught you with this same story my grandfather shared with us, I'm beginning to appreciate the entire story more!"
"Everyone, let me interrupt Mr. Owl. We've arrived at the small clearing and I'm all too ready for a rest!" Mr. Neigh! whinnied.
Time to rest, reflect, and renew
After Mr. Neigh! bent his rusty, old joints to lie down with a deep sigh and the little party on his back found comfy spots nearby, Mr. Owl resumed.
"We cannot claim that we love Master and then disobey His command to selflessly love those who harm us! For those who've left their spouse but claim to love and obey Master, they are under terrible deception! They ruin their own children's homes and destroy their own relationship with Master, then live in continual evil, fearing harm at every step! How 'lost' they are!," Mr. owl said, sadly. "I see, with the court and police work my position and family work is involved with, such terrible situations, where mothers and fathers commit the one unpardonable sin, to Divorce one another, ruining all the hopes and Creator-provided Right of their children for a home with both parents living together in peace. It also breaks Creator's heart since He is denied the opportunity to display His power to heal and reconcile relationships and thereby show the children of such parents His ultimate gift that is theirs too, for when they experience troubles in their own marriages."
"My heart is torn to bits each time I have to provide safety support, and deliver summons to spouses who are being divorced by a mate, some even after they have grandchildren! It is just not right!," the elderly Owl said, with a grim tone to his deep owly voice.
"Had Creator made His Creation Plan to contain no choices available to its creatures, then we should just as well be made like the trees, or as stones. We would need no emotion, nor any capacity to think, or to even move! All we would really need would be for food and water, just like a tree! I am so glad that Creator made me into a form where I can fly anytime I want, and even times I am not wanting to!, and that I can react to my daily living and the places, creatures, and events I experience! My! What a boring life a tree has!"
"Mr. Neigh!, what about you?"
"You know, I don't believe I've ever thought about my place in Creation like that, Mr. Owl! Thanks for gifting me with your wise concept of this life I am given, and the creature I am made to be. It's refreshing to gain such a vital perspective on my worth to Creator! Thanks!"
"Well, we do have the awesome power to choose," Mr. Owl said, returning his gaze toward Miss Wolffe, snuggled into her soft bed of warm moss. She was still a bit shaky after the events with Mr. Fyyne Pheetha and the poor Otter Family. "Miss Wolffe, how are you, now?"
"I'm much better," she replied. "Your grandpa's story, and just sitting here with Mr. Neigh!'s neck to curl up next to, with my dear friends is making me feel lots better."
"Dear little wolf daughter, you've been through more today than most people experience during a full lifetime. It's well now that you receive all the encouragement and comfort we can offer you." His gentle voice, still an owly tone with a hint of a grandpa's gentle, kind heart, gave her even more comfort.
"Grandpa's story also contains another practice; one that is very, very evil. It's not so openly portrayed yet as it will become, but it is the practice of idol worship or simply placing one's honor and respect that is due only to Creator to anything, or anyone else. In the story, so far, Angel Lucifer is the main idol. Those who redirected their respect and honor and yes, trust, from Creator to Lucifer, lost their contact with Creator in doing so. Later in the story this idolatry widens to things like stones and parts of trees carved into shapes. Of course, all idol worship eventually was directed toward Angel Lucifer, but evil has a way of being applied in a million confusing ways trying to cover that fact!"
"Also, this idol worship produced slavery. When we give our trust, honor, and worship to Creator, we are always, but always, free! Not so with any idol worship! Remember how Slytalker used the fears of harm, exposure, and even death, to keep those it had deceived to trust and worship it from going to Creator with the Truth and allowing Him to defeat the evil serpent?"
"Lucifer does the same with every form of the idol practice! Fear, as a tool of oppression, looms over every idol worshiper and many idol worshipers are found among those who attend Creator worship groups!"
Mr. Owl paused. His audience listened to the living silence of the woods they were resting in, and to the steady breathing of Mr. Neigh!. It all seemed so peaceful, and far, far removed from both the calamity of the earlier part of the day, and the utter destruction in the story Mr. Owl passed on to them from his ancestors.
"Do you want slavery for your living?" Mr. Owl's sharp voice cut into the short, sweet silence like a falling tree when it crashes down through other trees and thuds to the ground in a quiet woods. "Where would we be right now, if we were caught in the very same predicament that those poor serpents and Mr. Eiderdown found themselves in when the first part of grandpa's story ended?"
Mr. Owl fell silent again
Miss Riding Wolffe looked around their little grassy clearing. It seemed that she remembered some of this part of the woods from the morning when she and Mr. Neigh! started their trek toward the unknown events of this wild day. She longed to be back in the comfort of her parents' home.
"Angel Lucifer taught Mr. Slytalker well. Instead of making up a total lie to tell Ishah, Serpent made up a twisted truth. It consisted of part of Master's command to not eat the fruit and, in the other part, the deception being planned. So it went like, "We know that Creator told your Ish that he dare not eat the fruit, but what Creator really meant to say was, rather than that you would die you would actually lose this old life of uncertainty, like if you died to it, and then you would be born into a different life where you become like Him, knowing good and evil. Now, doesn't that make more sense to you?", the sly, evil-minded Serpent asked Ishah.
"In the record Moshe' provides for us In his original Hebrew record in Genesis, chapter 3 verse 4, Slytalker added the little word, "not" to the advice that he explained to Ishah. Master, in chapter 2, verse 17, commanded Ish, "In that if you eat this fruit, you will die the death!" Slytalker's revision went; "In that day you eat the fruit, you surely will "Not" die the death!" What a contrast! What a lie!"
"But," went on Mr. Owl, "what a poignant insight into the enormous deception now infiltrating our spiritual world, where many worship leaders pick and choose their religious advice, carefully eliminating, and for some, even adding things to the precious Living Word of Hebrew Scripture!"
"What Ishah, it seems, was not aware of, and I really think that she was truly aware of this, is that adding and taking away from the message Creator gives us is an evil act in itself. But even today, we see where Creator's Word is twisted, distorted, mal-used, and in many so-called Creator worship circles certain parts of His Living Word are simply banished or never mentioned to make it appear that the phony religious practices and customs of those circles are based on the truth of Creator!" Mr. Owl shook his horned head.
"Like Mr. Slytalker, whom Creator had given the power to reason. Instead of using his reason to resist Lucifer, he used it to worship the Fallen Angel and thereby he amplified the evil that Lucifer practiced! How different history would be if serpent used that same reason to amplify Creator's selfless Love!"
Just as Mr. Owl said this, Mr. Blue Jay landed on the grass right next to Miss Riding Wolffe. "Sweet little lady," he said, Your folks were very happy to know you are safe! The quake 'was' felt in the meadow, and they were concerned. I told them we would share the details of a most interesting experience we had with a Mr. Fyyne Pheetha just after that quake shook Mr. Neigh! loose from a big bush he was caught in. They send you their love, my dear friend."
"Oh! Thank you!" I was really hoping they would not be worried!," She said. "We have so much to tell them!"
"I'm glad you made it, Mr. Blue Jay. I figured the Wolffe's would be trusting for their daughter's well being, but your going to them is so much better than waiting!," Mr. Owl said. "Thank you!"
"We are discussing grandpa's story, and we just looked at how we creatures use our power to reason to do evil rather than good. We make thoughts and acts that fail to seek Creator's Plan for our well-being, but that seem to be in our own best interest. Then, when our wrong-headed reasons fail, we assume that Creator didn't see, and we act as if we had not made a mistake!" Mr. Owl had turned his big round, brown eyes nearly backward to face Mr. Blue Jay as he spoke.
"Tell me!" Mr. Blue Jay exclaimed. "I've made so many fool reasons to do things that proved wrong, I wish I had an acorn for every one! I'd never have to store another acorn there'd be so many!"
"I think that's true for all of us, here," the wise old owl said. "It sure goes for me!"
"OK! I was talking about how the serpent, Mr. Slytalker, had used twisted reason to switch his respect for Creator and give it to Lucifer, like Ishah also did, and what history would be like if both had focused on Creator, instead."
"Yes, it is a very deep river of Truth that runs through this story," Mr. Blue Jay said in his cheery "Scree! Scree! Scrip!" voice. For myself, I see where I need to change my attitude toward some of the birds that seem to just be determined to annoy me!"
Looking to see that Mr. Neigh! looked better rested, Mr. Owl said, "We've rested here at the grassy spot while Mr. Neigh! had a chance to rest. Mr. Jay is back, and perhaps it is a good time to be moving toward home. How does that sound to you, Mr. Neigh!?"
"Well, yes, I did rest some, and I'm better, thank you, Mr. Owl. But, my creaky old bones are telling me I need much more rest, but, I want that rest to be in my clean, dry, and warm stable! After I have a long, cool drink from the crystal-clear stream! Everyone take your place on my back, and you on my head!, Mr. Blue Jay, and let's go!
They set off to journey the rest of the way to the meadow with the tall tree and a small Wolffe Family cottage nestled in it, with the little brook running by. Miss Wolffe could hardly wait to tell her rabbit friend all about her adventures!
Mr. Owl took up the story discussion after everyone settled in comfortably.
"So, Instead of his twisting the Living Word, the serpent would have made the Living Word even more relevant to all Creation! Instead of giving that power to Lucifer to strengthen Lucifer's evil, Mr. Slytalker's power would have been used to block Lucifer, and maybe even to have made it too difficult for Lucifer to trick Ish and Ishah! Think of the possibilities!"
"But even today, Lucifer, and others who worship the evil spirit, use many of the same twisted truths to mislead and destroy those who do not first, and above all else, choose to obey Creator, and carefully study His complete, original Living Word! Instead, they blindly accept the partial truth of leaders whom they trust to guide their spiritual living, and are too lazy to research the Living Word to verify everything those spiritual guides teach. How pitiful they are!
"Even in the study of the Original Living Word, one must be careful to keep away from those who eliminate parts, add to those they do accept, and then add completely different material and alter the parts they do keep! With all this manipulation, they make the Living Word appear to say what they want it to mean, which produces a cult following in the religious group they lead. This is happening in most religious groups I see forming in our time." Mr. Owl noted.
"From grandpa's story, we learned that Mr. Slytalker claimed to love Master's Living Word so much that he used it to deceive Ishah. But, did Slytalker actually love Master?"
"He sure didn't like to be around Master! When I love someone, I want to be close to them! I don't think Mr. Slytalker loved Master at all!" Miss Riding Wolffe was showing renewed spirits.
"No, Mr. Slytalker was with his master," Mr. Owl replied, "and the master he was with hates the Master of Life. Miss Riding Wolffe, Mr. Slytalker had a family, a Mrs. Slytalker, and children. What would you do if he was your father?"
"Ouch! Mr. Owl, please pardon me if I speak out of turn here! But," said Mr. Neigh!, "isn't that question a bit too much to lay on our sweet little Miss Wolffe?"
"Why, thank you for your caring love for Miss Wolffe," Mr. Owl replied. "No, I have found Miss Wolffe possesses more spiritual maturity and knowledge than I see in almost every adult I meet. Granted, I see so many creatures who live on the wrong side of Master's Grace, but, I also see and deal with those whose intentions, if not their living, is for living according to Master's Plan for His Creation. So, yes, Miss Wolffe, I'd be most interested in your thoughts about having a father that behaved himself like Mr. Slytalker."
"Thank you, Mr. Owl." the little wolf-pup said. But, I really don't think I can speak for a real child of Mr. Slytalker, 'cause that poor child would suffer so terribly that her living would be a horrible daily struggle to love and respect her father, as Master tells all who obey, to do. He even made it one of the Ten Greatest Commandments - so, I just do not have an answer that would truly say what such a child would say."
"Miss Wolffe," Mr. Blue Jay said, "I think you're words are the best anyone with that question to answer would be."
"Thank you, my dear Blue Jay," Miss Riding Wolffe said, smiling up at her dear little messenger friend., "But I'm not finished!"
"Oops! sorry!" Mr. Blue Jay quickly replied. "I'm listening!"
"Well, while I cannot possibly speak from my own experience with such a terrible father - my own dear father loves and does his best to live a gentle life that honors Master, I can say that I know that staying close to Master, and taking everything my father says to me to Master, and following Master's Living Word to honor my father, and to have the strength to face him honestly and yet not obey his demands to disobey Master is possible, and even may lead my father to turn away from following evil. How I would even learn about having such a relationship with Creator, I really do not know, because that kind of father would never tell his child about Creator. I guess that Creator would have someone else tell that child of His Living Word, so that child would have an opportunity of its own to choose whether to obey Master, or not."
"Wow! Miss Riding Wolffe, you have excelled even my trust in your wisdom!" Mr. Owl exclaimed. I could not have said it a word better!"
"Isn't that what anyone could say, if they would only take all the Original Living Word, and study it?" Miss Riding Wolffe said. "I'm no genius, but that's what Master tells us to do, in the record that Moshe', and other recorders have given us to understand the Living Way of Creator. Is that too hard for anyone to do?" Miss Wolffe's face was wearing a puzzled look, as if to say, "That's so simple to see, a dummy could see it!"
"Miss Wolffe," Mr. Owl spoke. "Yes, Master's Living Word is available to most creatures, and yes, it is easy to understand when we ask Him to open it to us, and we truly desire to learn all He tells us in it because we have found that it gives us the most satisfying and rewarding way to live of all the ways we have to choose to live from, but, somehow, first we must learn, or imagine, or have someone tell us in a way that we truly understand, and then carefully go on our own to discover all the Living Word tells us to do, to live with, and be in relationship with Master. Otherwise, we never really see the awesome Life that obeying Master gives us. I find that fact so sad. Every day, just like this morning with Mr. Fyyne Pheetha and the Otter Family, I see the terrible consequences of those who, Like Mr. Slytalker, lead themselves and their children into and the end that never can be good.
"What if Grandpa Otter, instead of following Mr. Fyyne Pheetha, had followed Master wouldn't he, and his children be safe, with us now?" Mr. Owl's face, with its huge, round, brown with black irises eyes, turned all the way around to look at Mr. Neigh! Who just then turned his head around, on its long neck, to look Mr. Owl in the eyes.
"You know my friend, Mr. Owl," Mr. Neigh! said, "I've never had such deep thinking to do, as you have guided my thoughts today. With all the events in the past few days with Miss Riding Wolffe, my entire perspective on life has taken a sharp turn. Now, with your guidance into knowing Master as you obviously know Him, I'm beginning to feel like a new colt! There's just so much more to discover about our Creator! He's awesome!"
"Why, thank you, Mr. Neigh! Your gratitude is noted! But, it's really not my wisdom, for it all comes directly from Master's Living Word, as you well know! But, thanks, just the same!"
"My pleasure!" Mr. Neigh! replied, still looking at Mr. Owl, as his foot hit a log on the side of the path!
"Everyone tumbled off Mr. Neigh!'s back!
But, Mr. Neigh! had recovered his balance before he fell down, and soon all were back in their former position, and . . .
"I remember my grandpa reading about anyone who adds to Master's Living Word, or, removing anything from it," Miss Riding Wolffe said as Mr. Blue Jay settled rather uncertainly, back between Mr. Neigh!'s ears -"Please tell us BEFORE you do that again!" He'd just said to Mr. Neigh!, in a not too sweet voice!
"Yes . . .? Go on, Miss Wolffe." Mr. Owl encouraged her.
"Well, it is in the record that Mr. Moshe' gave us. He recorded it in Deuteronomy, chapter four, and verse 2, and then again in chapter 12, verse 32. The words of Master he recorded, say; "Whatever I command, you be careful to do; do not add, or, make it less." she quoted from her memory
"That's so common a knowledge in our world, why doesn't everybody live that way?" Mr. Blue Jay asked, of no one in particular. "I mean, if most creatures know that Master made that command, then why so much trouble and confusion all over?"
Mr. Owl, who had just finished arranging his ruffled feathers, replied, "Because we creatures are just too lazy to dig into Master's Living Word, and actually read all of it for ourselves! Instead, we attend a group service of some kind, where a small part of a different section is preached on each week, and then we spend the next six days as if we could not possibly read the rest of Master's Living Word for ourselves! That makes me angry!" he added.
"Oh." Miss Wolffe said. "That makes sense, but, it shouldn't!"
"No! It really shouldn't make sense at all!" Mr. Owl said, his hooty voice more deep, and authoritative. "It really shouldn't!"
"Let me answer that," said Mr. Neigh! "I realized Mr. Fyyne Pheetha was lying when he began to speak his phony, Australian accent after he slipped up and talked like we do. We all were right there, and still he thought we were not listening to him and we would not catch his mistake!
"That's why, I think, we creatures assume Master isn't watching and listening to us, so we do and speak things we'd never think of when we know He is watching! It's us who are not watching and listening to Him, - ourselves!"
"Oh! Can you finish the story now!" Miss Riding Wolffe exclaimed.
"Sure! But, Mr. Neigh! you sound very winded. We can rest again?"
"Yes, I have been getting winded pretty easily - huff, huffa, on this trip home," Said Mr. Neigh! "Huff, huff, huff - but, we are almost home, now, -huffahuffahuff . I think I can manage to make it there - huff."
"Good! But, in case you need a short stop before we're there, make it so, my dear friend!" Now . . ."
"Oh, yes! We left the Great Garden, and the terrible events at the end of Ish and Ishah's living there, right here, I believe . . ."
Well . . . in our stories about Little Miss Red Riding Wolffe, it's always about here that she runs into the most crazy, unexpected events that just seem to 'sorta' happen to her and any of her friends that might be along! But, as those are always surprises for her, we'll just have to wait, and read on!
"Now, before I say a word of the rest of the story, we must speak to Master, and request strength for Mr. Neigh!," Mr. Owl said.
"May I," asked the little wolf pup. "Of course you may!," both Mr. Owl and Mr. Blue Jay answered together. "Go ahead," Mr. Owl said.
"Our dear Friend," she began, "Mr. Neigh! is very, very tired. He needs rest Please give him strength to get home and rest tonight, so he is well and full of health and energy in the morning. Thank you, dear Master! Oh! and please keep all of us, and our families close to you, dear Master. We love You!"
It was good for her loyal friend to hear her sweet, gentle voice, showing how much she really cared for him, and how much she trusted their Master to take care of all of them. In fact, it did all her friends good to hear their sweet little friend talk for them all to master.
"Well, I don't feel stronger," Mr. Neigh! said, "but, I'm going to trust Him to provide all the strength I need! Mr. Owl, do you want to continue? I think Listening to you helps me go on, too. It takes my thoughts off my aching muscles!"
"Should we all get off your back? Perhaps that would ease your walking?," asked Mr. Owl.
"Nope. In fact, having the warmth of Miss Wolffe and her moss blanket, plus your being on my head, Mr. Blue jay, and you telling the story makes my walk much better! The heaviest load I carry is my old body!," he answered the Owl.
"Well, I guess I'd better start. Where was I? . . ."
Hiding in the Great Garden Of Life
"When we left Ish and his Ishah, Master was calling for them. But they hid themselves, in guilt and shame, attempting to blend into the jungle by putting plant leaves tied with vines on their bodies. It was the exposure of their disobedience they were trying to hide, not their bodies, as many religious leaders wrongfully assume."
"I think those religious leaders have the very same sense of exposure of their suppressed disobedience of Creator's commands to not mislead their followers, and they tell everyone that looking on naked flesh is evil. How can it be evil? We are all born naked, but only after we disobey do we feel 'naked'! So, if we are naked with everyone else, there is no shame. It's only shameful when we have a hidden act of disobedience that we want to hide from Creator! Do you see the difference?" he asked.
"Yes! I have always wondered why humans think that it's fine for a baby to be naked with everyone, but grownups get all stupid and shame-faced when they see another naked human adult!," Miss Wolffe said. I'm just a little girl wolf-pup, but I'm glad my parents go around naked and have no shame! I wish humans would see the beauty of their naked skin, and not the ugliness of their inner disobedience, that they seem to prefer to see!," she exclaimed.
"Well, we animals and birds 'are' a little different, I guess," Mr. Owl said, with a pensive tone in his voice. "We may be born, or hatched, like Mr. Jay & I were, with no hair or feathers, but the hair and feathers we grow as adults really do not clothe us! They merely protect us from the elements, and I must say, I totally love being a very, very naked Owl! I can not imagine how my wife would look with a dress on! YUK!"
"Nor could I ever see how my mares would have looked with horse dresses on!," Mr. Neigh! laughed. "What a ridiculous thing to even think about! Why are humans so stupid to think wearing clothes actually covers anything that is unworthy to be shared with all Creator's creatures?!!"
"Well, I think you hit the nail dead-on!, Mr. Neigh! When Ish tried to cover his sense of exposed disobedience, his first thought was naturally to hide all of himself from Creator, and so he took Ishah, and they hid in the bushes. But, seeing that would not last for long, they found leaves to cover their bodies, because, like we just discussed, they were using their reasoning to form thoughts and acts that really made no sense, and even got themselves into deeper and deeper trouble! Like, wearing clothes to hide disobedience covers the gloriously beautiful, Creator-approved body, but never touches covering the disobedience! So, reasoning to cover up one's body to hide disobedience is the most silly reason to wear clothing there is!" Mr. Owl chuckled.
"Let's go on!"
"My grandpa said it this way, in his story: "It's like you're a robin family member. Everybody is naked, and all robins look like, well, like 'robins'! Say you're a hatchling robin, and you are born without feathers; you're naked, just not protected by feathers from the weather. You look exactly like a baby robin!, and everybody is happy with your looks!"
"Then, one day a turkey family visits your house with a baby turkey with no feathers, either. You still are featherless, and when you look at that baby turkey, you are very different looking, but, still featherless. Mom and dad turkey, wearing no clothes, look like adult turkeys., not robins. What if the turkeys wanted to look like robins?"
"Ha! Ha! Ha! I see your point! What if the robins wanted to look like elephants!," cried Mr. Neigh! "I'd have a tough time telling who was who, with a robin dressed like an elephant, who came to visit beside a real elephant! NOT!" And he laughed like crazy!
"Well, OK, but it's kinda not exactly like that, Mr. Neigh!," Mr. Owl said. "However, thanks for the good laugh! It made me feel good to laugh so hard! A robin elephant!"
"No, actually when Ish tried to hide his disobedience by covering his skin, he was saying to all Creation, "Look at me! I can disobey, and not be found out!" At least, that's what I think he was attempting to say when he came out of hiding to meet Master wearing the leaves and vines. He was trying to identify with, and look like the Serpent! He saw that that serpent was disobeying Master before he, himself disobeyed, and the serpent still lived, just like Ishah said, so, why not try to disguise himself like a serpent, and fool Master, too?"
"Whoa!" Mr. Neigh! almost screamed in a very loud horsy voice. "Wait a minute, Owl! What you tell us is that that wily old serpent had Ish so fooled that he thought that looking like him would keep Master from seeing his disobedience?"
"Yes! Exactly! And, if Ish had been correct, guess what our life today would be like!"
"Well! I'm so thankful that we can easily see right through stupid clothing!" Mr. Neigh! said. Why don't humans understand how stupid they look, wearing silly-looking clothes just to hide their disobedience from someone who cares absolutely nothing about any creature's attempt to cover disobedience, except that doing so is also a grave mistake?" Mr. Owl had a far-away look in his eyes. His mind was seeing a Heaven where all creatures were clothed in their natural, naked glory, with the light of Truth, Love, and Grace being their only covering!
"We need to go on with grandpa's story, but there is a wonderful thought I was given just now," Mr. Owl said. "It is key to why Ish and Ishah were wrong to cover their naked bodies, I feel I must share it."
"Creator made earth to be at least as beautiful as Heaven, where Lucifer had led the evil rebellion. But, to derail Creator's Plan for Earth, Lucifer had to corrupt both it, and its creatures. He had to alter the appearance of earth to make it ugly, gnarled, and awful to look at, and the same with the creatures on earth."
"Heaven is where creatures live in their most natural, totally wonderful, and beautiful state of being, naked, absolutely shameless, and content. Lucifer despises all beauty, all contentment, all serenity. So, with the evil spirit now planted in Ish, Lucifer guided Ish to alter his beautiful state of nakedness. Ish ordered Ishah to do the same, it was not Ishah telling Ish to put a covering on! Males lead women, not the other way, for Master made it His Order for creatures."
"Ishah was misled by Mr. Slytalker the Serpent, when he fooled her into reversing the Creator-established order of Ish being Ishah's leader. If Ish realized this, and it seems like he would have, he still ignored his office of authority over Ishah as her leader, and accepted the reversal of authority she unwittingly offered him, by asking him to disobey Master's command."
"Had Ish obeyed the Knower in his heart, he would have taken Ishah's disobedience to Creator, for Master's solution. Personally, I can't think that Master would have punished Ish, had Ish just taken the problem to Him without eating the fruit, himself. What would Master have done about Ishah's disobedience we do not know, but, we do know He is merciful, and if Ish not followed her disobedience, then her husband would have been exonerated if he had taken the matter to Master."
"I think," continued Mr. Owl, "that Ishah would have had a very stern punishment, but not one that was in any way a retribution by Master, because He is merciful and kind. Ish would have witnessed the fact that Master really did mean that death would follow if he, Ish should eat the fruit, and Ish would have been very, very careful to never eat it, and carefully train his children to stay away from it, as well."
"But, how often do we fail to follow our knower, when doing so would bring Master's solution to our relationship problems!?"
"You are so right!," Mr. Neigh! exclaimed. "I guess you see so many creatures in your work whose lives would be far better if only they first took their problems to Master before following their reasoning! No?"
"It is so," Mr. Owl said, in a quite sad owl hoot. "This is why I am so against wearing clothing! It hides nothing, costs a fortune, fools all who wear it to think they look better than Creator could make their bodies appear, and, worse than all else, just amplifies their sense that using reason instead of knowledge is the best source of resolving problems caused by the disobedience that lies at the root of the entire problem of wearing clothing in the first place!"
"A final evil this covering the body creates is loss of distinction for male and female. We in the animal kingdom have natural differences, for most of our species. But, for humans, when clothing is worn, it has to be made to look different for each gender. And, over time, this distinction fails, because the fads of clothing change. So, rather than follow Creator's wonderful, shameless plan for male and female body differences to define gender, and still look so awesomely beautiful as human skin always looks naked, humans suffer yet another level of disobedience for their using clothing to try to cover their other disobedience!"
"Is it really so bad!? I was thinking that just wearing clothing for the first reason of false shame and guilt was bad enough!" Mr. Blue Jay exclaimed. "Now, you've added a whole worse disobedience in the wearing of clothing!! My! My!"
"Well, actually," Mr. Owl said, "there is even a worse issue with wearing clothing!"
"What! All his listeners exclaimed together. "Explain that one!," Mr. Neigh! said.
"OK, but, it could get lengthy, so I'll just touch on the issue briefly. When Ish was created, Master imparted into Ish His Own nature. When Creator visited with Ish and Ishah, walking and talking with them as a close friend, they saw no difference in any part of how Master looked, or how they looked, except for their unique, individual identities, as a family of children look different from each other."
"Now, as Ish had lost his innocence, he remembered how Master looked, and was obviously thinking and reasoning that the changes he felt inside from his act of distrust and disobedience had altered his outward appearance. It seems he reasoned if he disguised himself and Ishah to look like Serpent, he would somehow get past Master's obvious and dreaded questions about what had changed so much that he and Ishah now needed to cover their absolutely beautiful, naked bodies."
"Ish felt, from his reasoning, that he outwardly appeared different from Master, at that moment, Whereas before, when He and Master had inspected his latest project in the Great Garden, he had had no such thought of being, or appearing different from Master. Again, it was reason that messed with Ish's mind and heart so badly that he had to attempt to make some cover up reason to disguise his disobedience!"
For a spell, there was a deafening silence, as each creature applied the wise old owl's words to their deepest hearts.
"We've hit this evil clothing issue pretty hard. Let's move on," Mr. Owl said.
"As Master walked to the meadow, in the deepest part of the center of the Great Garden, He called, and called; "Ish! Ish! Ishah! Where are you, My beloved friends?"
"We understand, now, that Master knows all, and there can be no thing hidden from Him. But, He knew from before His Living Word formed the Creation, all of Creation and every event in it. So, when He entered His Great Garden calling Ish and Ishah, Master was telling us something extremely, extremely important that he wants us to fully understand and to fully integrate it with all we do, think, and speak. That is His majestic, selfless love for us!"
"As Master could simply have dropped out of the blue to where Ish was about to take that bite and said, "Absolutely NOT!" or He could have done that to Lucifer's very first approach to Mr. Slytalker, and preserved His earth exactly as He created it, why did Master take what to us seems the really dumb course of waiting till after His awesome Great Garden was doomed, and after His beautiful creatures had disobeyed His command, and after his Heaven was broken by rebels, to then meekly go looking for, and gently calling His naughty family?"
"Selfless Love."
For a space, there was another silence.
"Calling to Ish, Master made His persistent love known to us. He still allows us to disobey, and to royally mess up His beautiful creation, but, always He comes looking for us with the most strong, persistent, gentle love possible," Mr. Owl told his little audience. Each ear was fully tuned to his hooty voice.
"In the original record from Moshe', the word Master used for Ish and Ishah was "Lost." "Where are you, My lost friends", He called, over and over."
"Pointing to Ishah, Ish stated, "She made me do it! She handed me that awful fruit, and I took, and I ate!"" How often do we point to an accomplice, accusing for something they probably have little responsibility for our part in doing? This is so vital a key part to understand as grandpa's story unfolds!," Mr. Owl said.
"But, Ish had just told his first lie a moment before! When he saw Master was about to discover where he had tried to hide himself and Ishah in the thick bush, Ish stepped out, and said to master, "We were trying to be modest, for you. See? We have covered ourselves!, because we are naked."
"That was three direct lies in a row, before master had spoken twice!" Ish was not naked; One. He was not "being modest"; Two. Nor was he forced to eat the fruit!; Three.
"Master spoke to Ish; "Who told you that you are naked?, Ish"
"Ish had just been given another offer by Master to tell the truth! "Moshe' records Ish's exact response, for it is the exact same one we use over and over; "You gave me this woman, Ishah, to be with me. She took the fruit, and she gave it to me!, and I ate it!"
"Whenever I hear that," said Mr. Blue Jay, "I just want to go back to that place and smack Ish a good one!"
"Huff, hu-huff, huff. Me too! hufhufhuf." Mr. Neigh! tried to say, but his voice was to huffy to understand well. He stopped in his tracks, and the little group of passengers scurried off his back.
"Huff-a-huff-a-hu-hu Hi 0 - I'm sorry, he murmured."
"Quick! Mr. Neigh!, you lie down right where you are!" ordered Mr. Owl. "We're staying right here till you are really ready to continue, Mr. Neigh!"
"When you are able, we will go beside you to the next clearing. Understand, dear friend?"
Mr. Neigh! didn't nod, but he almost fell to the ground.
"Mr. Blue Jay, much as I regret this, may I again ask that you go fetch someone to bring Mr. Neigh! some water and something to eat? I'm sorry, but I'll see that you hear the parts of grandpa's story you miss, my friend."
"Oh! Think nothing of it! I'll do my best to be back quickly. Finding help to carry the things may take a bit."
When all were comfortable, and Mr. Neigh! seemed to be resting better, Mr. Owl continued. "When we say that we love someone, but then treat that person like Ish treated his Ishah, it would be the same for us if we told dear Mr. Neigh!, when he obviously needs a break, and rest, and nourishment, "Wait a minute! We need for you to get us home! No! You just keep on walking, and we'll get you water and food after we get there!"
"That says to him, as it said to Ishah, "I am more important than you, and you need to understand that my needs and wants come before any you have!"
"Ish thought he loved Ishah, but in his words blaming her for his own choice, he showed that he really loved only himself!"
"Exactly opposite to Ish's selfish attitude, Master put their needs, and even wants, above His own!"
"My grandpa also included another thing Ish overlooked right here. If Ish had simply said to Master something like, "Master, I, and I alone must bear responsibility for this disobedience, for it was I who neglected my dear Ishah, I who opened the temptation for her to come here alone, and then to hear the lies of this serpent in place of my being here to defend her, I must take all the responsibility. Do to me as You will, but do not hold Ishah guilty," Ish would have made for himself a clear example of selflessness!"
"Moshe' recorded that Master was speaking only with Ish, not both with him and Ishah! So, even without being asked, Ish had chosen to blame Ishah for his own disobedience!"
Mr. Owl waited a moment, as each listener applied the ancient words of wisdom to their hearts. "Mr. Neigh!," he said gently, "can we get you anything?"
Mr. Neigh! opened one dreary eye, and closed it again, as if to say, "Just more rest!"
"After Ish dumped the blame on Ishah, she took the heat. "Master asked her, "Ishah, what is it that you do?" [Hebrew, in the manner it is used in Hebrew Scripture records, is present tense for much of the application it has for those who would gain from its study!
"'THAT' serpent beguiled me! And, It induced me to eat!"
"Compared to Ish's lie, Ishah's is pretty much less blameable! Had she not been desperate for Ish's company? Had she not been created with this burning-gut need to be in intimate union with the man of her life? Had she not been so empty of Ish's presence that she resorted to finding another association to fill her awful need to be comforted? Had Ishah not found some form of apparent wisdom that only Ish would have recognized for a lie, in Mr. Slytalker's advice? Had she not had in her heart to bring her beloved Ish back into her relationship vault, to have and hold him where Creator had Planned for her beloved to be? And, we could find more justification for Ishah's claim for innocent status in this confrontation!"
"However, taking the cue from Ish, Ishah attempted lay her responsibility on the head of 'Mr. Slytalker' "This serpent did beguile me!"
"Her response was so like that of Mr. Fyyne Pheetha, and Ish, whose responses to similar situations was to ignore the obvious, and hope that they could simply drop out of the lime light, and slither off into obscurity from responsibility for their choices."
"But, Master simply turned to Mr. Slytalker; "Serpent, Go! Cursed are you more than all animals! Your belly will mold to the ground, and least among creatures you shall be regarded. Enmity between this woman, and her daughters, shall be your lot, and all your descendents; Your kind will bruise her heel, but her seed will bruise your head" [Mortal wound], and, implied, "a cursing you have brought upon all your family."
Returning to Ishah, Master continued, His heart grieving for her plight. "Beloved daughter, as you have rejected your husband for his appointed leadership position to protect you with such grave choices, now you and your daughters will bear his children, and to him will be your comfort, your belonging, and your desiring. The burdens of childbearing are yours, and your Ish shall rule over your affairs. [Implied is that since Ishah went aside from Ish to find solace for her needs, now she would only find her needs for companionship in Ish; and the same state would be transferred to her daughters.]
"Unspoken by Moshe' but nevertheless completely implied, Ishah had the very same offer by Master to come clean, and take full accountability for her choice to eat the forbidden fruit! Had she taken the full blame, would the serpent, whose welfare, remember, was in her hands by right of her position , as in her Ish, her right and honorable office was given by Creator to rule over all earth, have been protected from the nasty sentence Master placed upon it, and its descendents? In our own living, how much do we blame even the rest of Creation for our own choices, and thereby bring a curse upon other creatures?"
At this, Mr. Neigh! opened his one eye again. "Owl, you amaze me! My dear grandfather presented this beautiful story countless times to us colts, yet never did he open the meanings as you are doing! I am grateful that I am hearing this story as never before!"
"My dear friend, I would that every creature upon this old planet hear this story, in even more fullness than I present it!" The elderly owl looked more solemn than his uncle, presiding judge over the region.
"As Mr. Slytalker slid to the ground, never to rise from its face again, Master turned to Ishah, His heart bitter with her tears and pain."
"In each case of this deathly serious court scene, each cast member who faced Master had little appreciation for the utterly vital role that He, Master played in each member's own survival! Had Master simply opened His mouth and uttered a single sound, like Mr. Fyyne Pheetha they all could well have been swallowed up by the ground they stood in defiance to Him upon, right there before His face! Today, Do we not do this very thing?" Mr. Owl rotated his owly-eyed face nearly a full circle, searching into he soul of each member of his little audience.
"Oh my!" Exclaimed Miss Riding Wolffe. "I really see I've disobeyed Master so many times! I really was reasoning I could get away with my lying right in His face! Oh! Master! please forgive me! Cause me to obey You always, even when I so want to do what You say I shouldn't!"
She smiled at Mr. Neigh!, whose soft face and ears she'd been gently patting and rubbing with a furry paw. It made him very drowsy. "I'm so happy Master loves me!"
Her excited voice woke Mr. Neigh! He opened one eye, smiling up at his little, sweet friend.
"Since Ishah had exposed Mr. Slytalker's disobedience, Master had little choice but to meet out a just punishment for him. If Ishah had, as Ish also should have, taken full responsibility, and not blamed their partner in disobedience, it just may have been that that act of love would have spared Master's need for Justice, for He always prefers pardon over retribution as He states in later records of His Living Word, that He despises Sentencing and Divorce! He is so livid with anger toward Divorce, that he includes no forgiveness or redemption for those who Divorce! It is so terrible an act of disobedience!"
Mr. Owl again looked around into the souls of his audience. "If Master had made a plan for forgiving Divorce, it would have ruined His entire Creation! We hear about Divorce all across Creation, but in Master's Court, no higher crime against His Authority exists! That's simply common sense, since He clearly says Divorce ALWAYS comes out of a hard heart."
Mr. Owl continued; "Also, what we must ask, is, "If all, or even a part of this terrible event had not taken place, what would earth be like today? Understanding that Man and Earth creatures still exist gives us a sense of appreciation for Master, and His Plan for the good of His earth!"
"For one, imagine how wonderful it would be to have the Serpent Family just as they were created, walking upright and sharing great wisdom gained from all these years of faithful service to Master? How blessed we would now be!"
"If Ishah had not lied, saying that Mr. Slytalker tricked her into eating the fruit, how wonderful her relationship with his descendents would be! He lied to her, but she decided before meeting him that she must find any way possible to trick Ish into leaving his work, to share his time with her! Talk about being double-tongued, and two-faced! She would have reasoned her way into eating the forbidden fruit on her own, to get her demented desires!"
"No, without her lies, Serpent would not have been able to beguile Ishah! It would still be guilty for turning away from Master to work for Evil, yet under Ish and Ishah caring for it, Serpent may well have been restored to a good state of living."
"Then there is Ish's lies. If his heart was focused on his Ishah's best interests, her turning away from Master to Evil to get what her heart desired would have been at least forgivable. Then, where would Ishah and all her daughters be today?"
The wise old owl again turned his large, feathery head and wide eyes to gaze into the soul of each of his audience, except for Mr. Neigh!, who was sound asleep, now.
"Even if Ish had thought to be honest about his eating the forbidden fruit, never mind what reason he imagined that was good enough to override the command against doing so, and confessed his disobedience, would Master have ignored this and then given the severity of sentence He did? We must remember that our Creator is for selfless gifting of love before He is willing that any be harmed, and He, Himself prefers to take the blame for what His creatures do, even if that means His own death!"
"Again, NO! I cannot see where Master would have given any such sentence upon even one of His disobeying creatures in this event, IF each was honest and took full responsibility for the disobedience each had done, plus the disobedience each encouraged the other to commit. What a far better Earth we would have today!"
"Master was not fooled by a one of the many lies presented to Him in that short court session! His creatures, though, showed amazing, amazing capacity and ability to mangle Truth, deceive themselves, and harm their fellow creatures! Does any of this apply to us?"
"Master, as Moshe' faithfully recorded this court of inquiry and sentence, spoke to Ishah; "Great sorrow and many children you will bear in grief, being governed by your husband, Ish, and your longing, or despair, is dependent upon him."
"Remember how independent of both Ish and Master Ishah had been? To either she was free to express her needs, her desires, and even her sense of lostness, abandonment and loneliness that drove her to seek Mr. Eiderdowne's company and then, to continue her waywardness to Mr. Slytalker. Did Moshe' record even a hint that she had given this respect to either Master or to her Ish?"
"No."
"Her disrespect toward both Master and her spouse set up the situation where Mr. Eiderdowne had opportunity to abandon his office and duty as the responsible male of his family, and redirect his affections to Ishah. His fall was predicated, or determined to be possible, from Ishah's irresponsible relationship with him!
"What a great tragedy her mis-directed attention and affection caused Mr. Eiderdowne and his family!," Mr. Owl said.
"Mr. Owl," Miss Wolffe's voice almost woke him up from his sleepy story-telling, "What happened to Mr. Eiderdowne? Mr. Slytalker, too?"
"We're almost there! You might have to keep me awake to finish, though!"
"Where was I?"
"Mr. Eiderdowne loved Ishah more than his Mrs. Eiderdowne," Miss Wolffe answered.
"Yes! Now it was Ish's turn. Master's heart was broken for His precious creatures. How hard it was for Him to follow through with His Own Plan for showing His great Love!"
"To Ish, Master now spoke with a sad, heavy heart. His voice was soft, almost with a crying agony that tore His heart; "My dear Ish, My friend whom I created in My Own likeness, for listening to words of your Ishah, eating from the tree I commanded saying to you, "In the day you eat thereof you shall surely die;" now, cursed is earth's soil for your account; sorrowing, it shall consume all your toil for each day, for the length of your life." Master's sad voice continued; "Briers, thistles shall spring up where you toil; you will eat the herbs of its field. Sweating from your brow, you shall eat the bread of your toil till you are returned to the earth; for, from out of it you were formed, you are soil, and to soil you shall return."
"Master's own brow sweated from the labor of His painful duty to restore some form of order to His earth. He knew how their acts would cause the disaster to come, the near-complete destruction of all human and animal life upon earth."
"Then Master did something that gives us non-human creatures the willies! He took the most innocent of all His animal kingdom, some small lambs, killing them, and from their skins He fashioned coverings for Ish and Ishah, placing these over their bodies, with the bloody side facing outward. It was a sign, not of their nakedness as shame, but of exposing their hidden disobedience, which He had to delve into much like He had delved into the bodies of those innocent lambs, to expose their very life, and show to each, that the consequence for their disobedience is death."
"Perhaps by this gruesome act, to show the horror of two humans' naked, uncovered disobedience and the Death their acts caused to both themselves and all earth creatures which they were commanded to nurture and protect, this bloody symbol was to reveal to all creatures the severity of consequences for disobedience. Like when Mr. Eiderdowne was given the choice to eat hearts torn from his own children's breasts, or face death by a vicious enemy of Life, Master hoped to impress Ish and Ishah to never forget the severity of disobeying His Command, and the cost for doing so would cause the death of pure, innocent creatures along with themselves."
Mr. Owl looked around, again. "As grandpa's story unfolds, it shows how Master tied this very bloody symbol of death into His Plan for Forgiveness, Redemption, and Reconciliation for Mankind! In it, He shows us that, following acts and words that cause us harm and hurt, and separation, if we obey His Command to love one another as He loves all, we will seek to reconcile, and renew our former relationships, no matter what it costs to do so, just as it cost Him all He had to reconcile us to Himself. Implied with His command for us to reconcile in love as His selfless love, is that if we do not make every effort to reconcile, He has no room for us in His Presence. He cannot forgive what has not been forgiven in our lives - how would He? His Creation exists in reconciliation, which Evil rejects, and does everything to make sure that reconciliation never enters where the spirits of disobedience rule. But, I am ahead of the story!"
"Mr. Owl, are we going to hear about Mr. Eiderdowne, and Mr. Starr again, soon? I'm getting sleepy!", Miss Riding Wolffe asked, her eyes drooping and almost closed.
"Yes, dear little wolf. Perhaps we all need a rest. Tell you what. After we nap, and Mr. Neigh! is again taking us back home again, we can finish this quite long story!"
"But, just so you know, we're going to see that old ostrich, and Mr. Starr, soon again in the story. Well, their descendants, anyway! Captain Noach had quite the experience with the show they put on, on his Ark of Safety! Now, my friends, let's sleep!"
Her paw still on Mr. Neigh!'s nose, Miss Riding Wolffe was fast asleep before Mr. Owl finished.
It was less than a full day since Mr. Neigh! and Miss Wolffe stopped for the night not far from this spot on the path to "Creator's Kitchen," and the beautiful green "Meadow Bay" that drew her curiosity that very morning. Unknown to her, Mr. Neigh!, in his former days as Police Detective, traversed this pathway often, tracking down his unwitting "customers," such as Mr. Fyyne Pheetha. But, that was many years past. He was familiar with all the small details of the path, and now, in his deep slumber from exhaustion, his dreams were of a distant experience he'd had at this very spot. It was not long before he was due to retire as Chief Detective.
It was a crisp-aired Fall when the elderly skunk entered the Police Office where Mr. Neigh! worked. He was using a cane, visibly limping, and excited.
"I've been beaten, robbed by a gang of Blue Jays!" He almost yelled at Mr. Neigh!, and his secretary. Mr. Chipmunk. "You 'must' arrest them and take back my things!"
"We will do all we are able to do, sir. It would help for you to tell us what happened, where, and when you were robbed, and what was taken. Please, have a seat!"
"Now, first I need your name, and where you are from."
"Mr. Alexander Sniff. I am a fine feather salesman from Peru," said the shifty-eyed old skunk."
"Thank you, Mr. Sniff. Could you tell me what you were doing at the time of the robbery?"
"Yes. I was napping in a small clearing on the pathway to Sealth, otherwise known as "Creator's Kitchen." The weather was clear. I traveled a long way that day."
"Where was your last stop?"
"Do you know where the ferry boat crosses that big stream? I started that day when I was in a big woods not far from the stream where that ferry boat has its landing, on the other side."
"Just one more question about you, Mr. Sniff. Where were you going?"
"Why, I was headed to a small town to the North of Sealth (Seattle's original name). It's called "Tulalip."
"Thank you! Now, how many Blue Jays were there?"
"Well, I saw three of them. It seemed like there were more, perhaps in the trees. They were yelling and screaming at me. The three I saw were hitting me, then they all flew away. When it was quiet, I looked around, and found all my feathers gone! I want them back!"
"We'll do our best, sir. What time did this happen?, Mr. Sniff"
"It was only about two hours ago. I came here right away."
"Did you run?"
"Yes! I did!"
"Good to know! I can find your resting place better!"
"Now, what exactly did they take?," Mr. Neigh! asked. He had a growing idea of what had happened.
"Well, I had a large collection of bright-coloured feathers from many birds of the tropics. The Blue Jays distracted me, then grabbed the bag I had the feathers in. They were gone before I realized they took my feathers!"
"Thank you, Mr. Sniff. I'll get on this right away!," the wise old detective horse said, his voice sounding assuring to the skunk, but to his office staff, it was loaded with suspicion of foul play. "Where are you staying, so I can contact you when I have something to tell you?"
"Oh. There's a small cottage in a meadow with a small stream that runs into the fast, large stream that the ferry crosses. I stayed in their barn. Mr. and Mrs. Rabbit live there. I've not stopped there yet, but some years ago, when I was through here, they let me use their barn for the night. I am headed there now."
"Very well. I'm on my way!"
That was many years before, and Mr. Neigh! was in much better shape. He galloped at the speed he estimated Mr. Sniff had run at, for the time the skunk had indicated, and stopped, looking for clues. There were signs of a scuffle. Near a tree he found two bright orange and black-tipped feathers. "Definitely not from a bird in this area!," he said to himself.
He looked around in the woods and brush nearby, and up into the trees. another bright feather was caught in a tree, well above his head.
"Hmmmm," he muttered. "I wonder if the local family of Blue Jays know about this? How will I ask them so they don't know I'm looking for Mr. Sniff's feathers?"
He had an idea . . .
When he arrived at the Snatcher Blue Jay Family's home, he called, "Whinny! Whinny! Whinny! - "anyone home?"
"Oh! I'm glad to see you!" Mr. Snatcher Blue jay called down to the detective horse. "I had a nasty time with a skunk today. I'll come down and tell you about it!"
"Something's not right here," Mr. Neigh! said to himself, just as the Blue Jay landed on a limb near him.
"Yes! I was out this morning gathering nuts and fruit, when I saw a skunk on the main path walking toward Sealth. I went down to talk to him, and he told me he was going home from a long trip down to Southland. He had many bright feathers, which he showed me. Very beautiful ones! That's when it happened."
"Yes?!
"Well, all of a sudden there were several large crows who landed around the skunk, and they flopped around and beat him so fast he couldn't defend himself. Then, they flew off with his feather collection!"
"Hmm. So, why didn't you tell the skunk to come see us at the Police Station? You could've flown down to us even faster, yourself, too?"
"Well, I told him he should go see you. I thought that that is why you are here. No?"
"I am out on a business inspection. I need to ask you jays a few questions about the trade business you have with otters from up North. I really need to know about what they have been bringing you." He hoped Mr. Jay wouldn't see through his ploy to locate the feathers. He was sure Mr. Jay knew where they were.
"Oh, yes! Well, I last traded some fancy mosses for coloured shells they brought. Want to see them?"
"Why, sure!"
As Mr. Blue Jay led Mr. Neigh! to the storage where he kept the shells, Mr. Neigh! carefully looked for clues of the feathers, but nothing seemed to relate to them. Mr. Jay pulled several shells from their hiding place under some limbs.
"See? They're quite pretty!" But Mr. Neigh!'s eye caught something that rang an alarm in his mind.
"Yes! And that's a very nice bag you keep them in. Where did it come from? The otters, I guess?"
"Why, yes! They said it came from a snow goose, just arrived from Southland. He had traded for it with parrots in the jungle, they told me. Isn't it nice?"
"It certainly is! Where did you say the otters were, today? Headed North?"
"Oh! I thought I said they traded this last time they were here? What do you mean, 'today'?"
"I guess I got my times mixed up. Are they headed North? You did say they are? Sometimes, all these times and people and places get all mixed up in my thoughts, Mr. Jay. Now, could you help me? What time did they leave this morning?"
"They left at, er, I mean it was several days ago. Uhmm, I think they left at around, say middle afternoon."
"Oh. The Snow Goose first arrived for this season just yesterday, Mr. Blue Jay. That nice bag from Southland didn't come from them. Care to tell me how it got into your storage? I'd really encourage you to tell me about the otters - like where you met them, when, and where they were headed, "this morning"!"
"While you're at it, I'd appreciate you telling me anything you know about the crows who took the skunks feathers. I bet they have something to tell that will clear your story about having a bag that didn't get here when the otters told you it did!"
"Mr. Jays Wings drooped. "Crows? Oh! Uh, no, I never saw them before. I don't know what happened to them. But, you're right about the otters. They left this morning. About mid-morning. I thought there was something fishy about this bag, and I don't want to get involved."
"Yes, I don't doubt that you want to hide your deal with 'those' otters.' Now, are they still here? I didn't meet them on the trail to the North. Your story about this bag is getting more and more confusing, Mr. Snatcher Jay! I'd think you'd like to clear all this confusion with some simple, honest answers! Should we start all over?" Mr. Neigh!'s confusion was now not so confusing to the wily Mr. Snatcher Jay. He looked straight into the beautiful bird's eyes.
"Uh, I guess . . . well, yes, What do you want?"
"First, Mr. Snatcher jay, were there 'any' otters at all this morning?"
"No." His wings drooped further. "I made that part up. But, they did come several days ago!"
"Yes. I suppose I can accept that"
"And, this bag . . . I found it along the main path after the crows stole Mr. Skunk's feathers."
"You found it?"
"Yes."
"This morning? Along the main path?"
"Yes. I met Mr. Sniff several miles North. It was on the path not far from here, the one that leads to Sealth. He was several miles North on it."
"Oh, I see."
"Should I take you to where I found it?"
"Maybe. First, Mr. Snatcher Jay, I'd like for you to tell me the truth. What did you do with the feathers the bag had in it? You see, Mr. Jay, I don't believe, for one minute, that any crows took those feathers. Your story is too flawed, and getting worse the more I talk with you! Just tell me the truth, Mr. Jay. Then I can file my report, and go home. It's much easier, don't you think?"
"I guess you're right. Yes, the feathers were in the bag. At least, some were still there. Evidently the crows . . ."
"No! Mr. Snatcher Blue Jay! I told you there weren't any crows! You see, the crows are on my business inspection list, too. Do I need to show the list to you? Now, want to tell me the 'truth'? I'd appreciate that. And, you're sure to feel much better after you tell me what really happened! Shall we?"
"But, but, bu - I I , . . . there were two other jays, Mr. Neigh! 'They' have all the feathers!
"Are your sure? Maybe they traded them to the otters! Why don't you prove this one to me, Mr. Snatcher. I'd like that very much!"
"Mr. Neigh! Mr. Neigh! Wake up!"
Mr. Neigh! raised his head in alarm. "Where? What? Oh! It's late! I've been dreaming when I should have been just napping! He looked around. There next to him were Mr. Snatcher, er, I mean Mr. Courier Blue Jay, he corrected himself, Miss Wolffe, and his long-time Police Captain, Mr. Owl.
"Oh! It's late and I've slept much too long!" He almost said it aloud.
"Mr. Owl! Mr. Wise Owl?!" He called softly. "Mr. Owl!"
"Whooo - whoot - whoo?" Mr. Owl's sleepy voice seemed to echo.
"Mr. Owl, it's late. Time to wake up and be on our way!"
"Whoo, whoo - er, what? Oh! Mr. Neigh!! My! It 'is' late! I was dreaming of when you were a detective!"
"So was I! But, we must get back on the way home. I don't like it here at this hour. I want to keep our little wolf friend safe all the way home!"
"You're right! Miss Riding Wolffe? Hey, little friend. We need to be leaving. Hey little lady, wake up!"
Mr. Neigh! pushed his soft nose under her sleepy chin.
"Ahhhoooowwww!" She moved her head, yowling in her wild dream of watching her father in the full moon, fast asleep!"
"Miss Riding Wolffe! Wake up! Wake up, little friend!"
